First of all, I'm sort of dissapointed that this has to be my 900th post (please hold any celebration until I get to the big 1000), but I feel there are some things that need to come to the attention of the board. I don't want to sound like a broken record, but I feel that there are some things that need to be repeated. I also don't want to sound like a fourth moderator (or a third active one) either.

With all that being said, I was confused when I got home from Mission Trip to read what Daniel had to say. At first I did not know what he was talking about, but it has come to my attention over the last couple of days. I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, even though it may or may not differ from my own. I also do believe in the rules that the DIS Boards has put aside for the boards are respectful enough. With some of the threads that have occurred in the last few days (ones that I have replied to and others I haven't), I believe that the Teen Board is sending out a bad vibe to guests who are reading the Teen Board. This would include making over-generalizations and pin-pointing certain people or certain groups directly or indirectly. Imagine that you are a 13-year old kid checking out these boards for the first time and what you see reminds yourself of the things that you hear and see at school. That would not seem like a neat place to hang out. I have practically cried from some of the things that I have read on the boards. I am a very sensitive person and certain words really offend me. So I was wondering if we, as a board, would be able to weed out the icky stuff from the boards, or else I think we could lose a lot of nice people that all have one thing in common with us, the love of Disney. I would also like to take this time to apoligize to anybody that has been emotionally hurt by anything that I have said, because I make mistakes without realizing it.

well congrats on your 900th post... ill be waiting for the 1000 for that party!

Also on what you had to say... i know that I have been one of the people who have been saying as you said "icky stuff" and because this is a mesaage board i have just been stating my opinions. Sorry if i had offended anyone with ANYTHING that i have said, but thats just the kind of person i am. If something is bothering me i will point it out, i know thats kinda mean but if you dont like it, then dont read what i have to say.

900th post?? You're only at 899 my dear ;)

(And that's all I have to say)

thanks for expressing your opinion. :) i have not been on the TB as much as i have in the past, so i am not quite sure as to what you are upset about, but i am sure it is something valid. :) hopefully through getting out how you feel things will change.

and congrats on 899 posts hehe.

thanks for the opinion

I'm with Maggie on this one...I KNOW I'm one of the main people in what you are talking about. I've had some very drama filled days the last few days and have been very pissed some of the people have been on the boards that have made me angry, some have not..and with them coming together and no one to help me..I dunno I'm a different person
I'm sorry if I have offended anyone with anything I have said..It probably came out the wrong way...lots of things have been messed up lately

and I agree with Maggie again...I've never had anyone hate me..but if you don't like me..just don't talk to me or read my posts

im glad that the TB make ppl feel comfertable enough to express their opinions. its very good, it means that this is a "place" where ppl feel that they can be themselves.

but (theres always a "but", isnt there ;) lol), i completely disagree with you. no inappropriate subjects are discust on the boards, and for the most part there is no use of "bad" language, only hints of it here and there. and the words that are being hinted at arent even that bad......

as far as the generalizations go - i dont really understand what about what is being said bothers you. its not like there are ethnic generalizations being made. its as if you expect the teens on this board to stop being teens, and when you come on the disney board, all youre supposed to talk about is walt, mickey, DCL and snow white.....

it seems you think 13 year olds are very naive. as a counselor for 13 year olds, most of them would find this bored too geeky and clean.

im sorry that things on the board offend you. i know how upsetting it is to constantly be hearing or seeing things that you find to be offensive (some of my friends make me want to throw up). since i dont see how things can get any cleaner on the TB, i suggest that when you see a thread or a post that you think will upset you - dont read it.

i hope alll of us will be able to continue enjoying the TB, and i think that jenn and daniel do a great job with monitoring this board.

Wow! that was really an eyeopener!!!but i will also have to side a little with jules & maggie. it is a message board and as long as people obide the guidelines it should be ok. but ill still watch what i say now because there are a lot of younger kids that come on this board and we need to set a good example, but we shouldnt act like people we arent. its almost like peer pressure to act like someone we are not, we can monitior and keep the stuff down a little but we cant change our personalitites. but still ill try my best to keep the poutbursts on the DL.
(BTW i know u said dont make a big deal but congrats on 900!)

I agree with Bubblemutant and Jules and Maggie completely. We are not in the 1850s here. 13 yr olds know ALOT more than u think. If u don't want to read it then don't -- its as simple as that.

I agree with everyone else. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion about things. If you dont like it just dont read it. Congrats on 900 posts!! Only 100 more to 1000! Bet ya cant wait.

I dont really understand what your are getting at, but Im 13 years old and I have absolutely no problem w/ this board....and i agree w/ maggie and everyone else...you are entitled to your own opinion, and if you dont like on person, then dont read thier things that they write on here.

Yeah you know my opinion on this one.
And if i say anymore...I may turn into a major b**** because this has gotten out of hand...everyone should just let it go.
We can say what we want...and if they don't like it,....don't read it.

thumbs up, mousekateer dude.

imo you've shown lots of maturity... keep it up man. :)

I agree with ya Daughter_of_amid_chaos...freedom of speech all the way!

First of all, I like to reply that I like everybody on the boards and I wasn't trying to target anybody in particular. I do have do disagree with bubblemutant in that I have not felt that I have been able to be myself while being on the boards in the last week. Secondly, I would like to say when I was talking about a 13 year-old kid I wasn't talking about what a typical 13 year-old kid would do (most 13-year olds don't like Disney like we do), I was talking about maybe like my sister, or me at 13, or even a depressed kid who just reads through some of the posts but never posts themselves. I would also like to say that I work with plenty of 13 year-olds myself. I will still go about reading posts like I have.

I am 13 and I have never found anything on this Board, offensive.
I agree that this is a PUBLIC forum and that people should be able to speak their mind, while keeping in mind that some people may consider it offensive.

Ok i hate to sound rude but i think you might be overreacting to something. U said u r very emotional so everyone might not be offended by it the way u r. I see ur point how some things r a offensive but somethings arent as bad as people make them out to be

I think these board are partly about disney and partly about teens helping teens. For example i know i have had some problems in my life and i just need to express them... so i did and the people here helped me.

This board brings us together because we like disney. but when you start talking to some of the ppl on here you fine other things that you like.

I think if you are a 13 year old or younger you would mostlikly have somewhat of a maturity level when you came onto this board. and it would keep getting high and high the more time you spent here!

I know some of the things that we might say on here are not all the time "right" to say... but we are having fun and that is another thing this board is about. having fun!

I wouldnt be here if i didnt like you all or had no fun on this board... and i think that is why most of us are still here!

ok, so I hate to rock the boat, but I'd like to put my 2 cents in....

I think this is a public board, in the sense it's open to the public, but you need a password and such to be a part of it. Also, you need to obey the rules posted upon entering the DIS community. I think that's where it stops being public (I'm sorry if I'm sounding a little confused, I still feel like I'm on a ship in rough waters  )

I can't find where to look at the rules, but they say you can't curse and keep topics of posts to the title of the board (which we all do) I think what Matt was saying is just, if you are going to post debates and stuff, give some warning or something, or I could be totatly off. Everyone has their own opinion though.

:)
