My 9-day trip in brief: HEAT vs. AC; EMH needs a new moniker; Banshee bedlam, and more

Our family just completed a 9-night trek through WDW. We've been going once a year since 2001. The big difference, of course, is our kids are now 28 (not attending this trip), 25, and 18--so the touring is much different now. Here are some quick observations:

1. THE HEAT vs. AC. The heat nearly killed us this time. We've been going in the summer for many years--so that's nothing new--but this was BRUTAL. Now I remember why we got up early for rope drop and napped in the afternoons on our previous trips (can't do that now with teenage and early adult sleepers). Making it worse was the relative weakness of AC on the buses and many indoor attractions. Thank goodness for afternoon showers or we might have expired long before our passes did.

2. EMH/Park hours in general. Disney need not justify its park hours to me--after all, they are a for-profit business. But that doesn't mean I'm not disappointed by the lack of late evening park hours. EMH evenings were very scarce and underwhelming. EMH at AK is only for Pandora and even at MK some of the major attractions are shut down during EMH (like Splash Mountain). EMH should now be LMH for "Limited Magic Hours."

3. Flying on a Banshee--AWESOME!! This has been thoroughly discussed so no need to say more. Just let me say it lived up to all the hype!! Very impressive.

4. New MK fireworks--INCREDIBLY IMPRESSIVE TECHNOLOGY on display for this show. Spectacular, actually. The variety of movie/character highlights integrated into the show were nice but a bit forced and just mashed together I thought. Didn't do much for me in terms of inducing an emotional response. I was thoroughly impressed, but not moved by it. (Unlike Wishes--less "spectacular" in comparison but more emotive.) Just my opinion...and I know I'm likely in the minority on that.

5. Tour Groups--Bravo, Disney! I think you addressed this issue. I saw many tour groups and they were incredibly orderly and well behaved in every park venue. THANK YOU TOUR GROUPS AND DISNEY!!

Overall, a great 9 days for us. Looking forward to next time.
