he's a bit afraid to try Tower of Terror and Rock N Roller Coaster...

We've told him how much fun they are and we know he'd LOVE them once he's ridden them. He doesn't trust us (although we've always been right :sad2: ).

So can you guys please post to tell him how wonderful these rides are???

Last year he rode on Mission Space, Space Mountain, BTMR, Splash Mtn., really every ride BUT ToT & RNRC - and he had an AMAZING time  . At an amusement park near us here in CT he rides a "drop zone" ride that drops you 185 feet -without hesitating..,

Thanks - looking forward to your posts! :goodvibes

I will be perfectly honest. My 10 yr old DD loved the Tower of Terror, but wasn't fond of the Rock n Roll coaster. My guess is though she didn't like it cause she had to stand in line for 2 1/2 hours with her sister since they didn't get a fastpass. Both said it was over with before you could blink an eye.

My DS 5 has riden TOT at Disneyland and WDW. It likes it, doesnt love it.
He is not tall enough for Rocking roller coaster yet.

My motto, you gotta try everything atleast once!

BTW: TOT is my favorite!!!!

Our DS7 rode ToT when he was 4 - twice and loved it. Couldn't get enough of the RnR in DLP last year and can't wait for next week when he gets to do it all again in the Florida sunshine! But he is an adrenaline junkie (like his mum and dad).

My daughter did TOT 5 times when she was only 4, it was her favourite ride. Rollercoaster are not her thing but she might be tall enough this time to try if she wants to, shes 7 now.

My dd was almost 5 the last time we went and she loved ToT if anyone asks her the best part of WDW she'll say TOT. :Pinkbounc She wasn't tall enough for RnR at the time so I don't know anything about this one.

If you can catch the travel channel when they run the show on Tower of Terror, it takes the terrror out of it - my 8yr dd watched it, saw how the elevator worked, saw how safe the engineers worked it, now she feels better about the whole thing, as far as RNC, probably not, but she did appreciate seeing it on Travel Channel!!

On our first trip to WDW our two sons where 7 and 4. We rode all the rides in all the parks except for PW in AK. There DS4 lacked 2" to ride. They both love ToT and RnR and cant wait to get back there in OCT 04 to ride them again. :cool1:

My DS(7) loves RnR. My DD (5) loves TOT (not tall enough for RnR). So DH and I switch between the kids. Hey if DD5 can ride TOT, your DS8 should no problem!!!

Ramsey Trio DS...

I know how you feel, riding a ride that you have never riden before, especially ones with names like TOWER OF TERROR can be a bit frightening. I'm a little afraid of heights and have never really liked roller coasters. But I do believe that you can't let fear rule you or you would miss out on many cool things in life! Your parents know you, they know the kind of things you like. They know that if you try these rides you will love them!

Even though I don't like heights, I ride TOT every time we go to WDW. Last time I finally got the nerve to try RnR and I have to admit it was fun! Don't know why I waited so long to try it out!

I hope you give it a try! You'll probably love it so much you'll bug your folks to ride it again and again and again! :Pinkbounc

My now 8 yr old dd has been riding TOT since she was 5 and loves it. She rode RnR for the first time when she was 6 and loves it too! She was a bit worried about RnR the first time she rode it, but she got off and went right back on!

Our DS 5 rode RnR and TOT last year and loves it. I don't normally ride things like RnR and TOT but I loved RnR. Its like riding Space Mountain (which I love) it just has rock music in the background. I haven't ridden TOT yet, but our DS 5 keeps saying that I'm a big chicken and that I'll like it since I ride RnR. So I guess when we are there next week I will try TOT also.

Based on the rides that he has ridden and enjoyed, he should definitely give those two a try.

We just came back from a trip and my DD8 rode RnR coaster 8 times in one morning. It is her absolute favorite ride and she was thrilled that the low crowds allowed her to set a personal and family record for most rides in a single morning. Last summer, she and my nieces (10 and 8) rode it only 4 or 5 times since the park was more crowded. Anytime anyone she knows is heading to WDW she asks them to ride RnR for her.

She has been riding ToT since her 5th birthday trip but always only rides it once.

Have a great trip!!! Oh and Kelly says take an extra ride on RnR coaster for her.

Sorry to disagree with everyone here but, if the kid doesn't want to get on, why pressure him/her? IMO, the vacation is more for my kids than it for me. If theyre terrified of getting on a ride, why do it? :earsboy:

You'll be fine. I think I was 10 or 11 the first time I rode the TOT. I'm 13 now. It's my favorite ride. You'll be having so much fun, you won't even think about being scared. It's the same with the Rock and Rollercoaster. It's great. You'll love them. Don't even worry about being scared. You'll be just fine!

maybe this will help-- my 9 year old is a bit timid at these things ... he did splash, big thunder, got him onto space mountain too and he loved it. he did mission space because we made a pact before we left :goodvibes -- he loved that too-- we did it 3x.

but, while waiting in line for tower of terror he tells me how he hates scary things and he even didn't like haunted mansion! i'm thinking "you have no idea..."
but -- he loved tower of terror!

then later my wife tells me he had his eyes closed duringhaunted mansion (i was in a different buggy)! i probably wouldn't have bothered with TOT but in the end he did enjoy it.

as i told him -the risk of 3-4 minutes of being scared may be worth it if you really end up enjoying it!

good luck!

My daughter was 8 when she went on TOT last year.

She wanted to go on RNR but couldn't talk me into going with her. :teeth:

My DS (now 9) has been riding ToT since he was 3. It's his favorite MGM ride. Since he was 7, he's been riding RRC.

If your son does not want to participate, that's cool. He can go when he is ready. My DS has no fears - he justs goes everywhere.

Have a great time.

I was feeling sick all morning knowing I was going to HAVE to go on rock n' roller coaster, I promised my friend. We get to the cast member and they tell us "row 1 please". I start FREAKING AND PANICING. but then I saw a 80 year old woman in row 2, and she was like "I've done this before, and I'm still alive :)"

Feeling queasy as I climbed into THE FRONT OF THE LIMO, i closed my eyes the entire time we turned the corner. The take off was the only time I felt sick, the rest of it, i LOVED. I regret not going on it again during that trip.

The only coasters I can handle are BTMR, so if your son likes that, he'll be fine no this. You're too busy listening to music and looking at the lights to even notice you're upsidown.
