I returned last week from the best Disney vacation so far!! I took my 7 ry old DS. We drove down from NC on July 26th. The first night we stayed in Kingsland Georgia, then drove into DTD at noon the next day. We picked up my AP and his 5 day parkhopper. We ate icecream for lunch at Ghiradelli's. Walked around DTD a bit then went and checked in at Pop Century. I loved it, so did my son!! We stayed in 50's A. We drove to AK to see Lucky the dinosaur before he left for Tokyo. He was amazing!! Then watched the Jammim Jungle parade. It was fabulous. We stopped into Rainforest Cafe for a nice cool dinner. Good food, service and atmosphere. We went back to Pop for a quick swim then headed over to MK by bus. We FP pooh, rode TTA, Buzz, watched Wishes, did Pooh then Philharmagic! before slowly leaving the park. The next morning we went back to MK. It was hot, but we got a lot done!! Went back to Pop for PB&J sandwiches and a couple of hours on both the bowling pool, hippy dippy pool and the pop jets. Got back to the room later than we expected, 5:15. We had a 6:10 ADR at CRT. Amazingly, we were only 4 min late. Dinner was delicious and we got a great pic of us with Cinderella. Spent the rest of the evening doing what we missed and were back to POP by 11:30. The next morning we got to Epcot by 9am, FP Soarin', rode Living with the Land, UE, SE, and did Turtle talk. We then rode Soarin' and were back at POP by 1:30. More swimming!!! Then went to MGM for the evening. Rode Star Tours, which my son loved. Ate at Sci-Fi (we loved it) while a storm passed. Then went to Fantasmic! Had a great time. The next day, saturday, was my 40th. I packed up the car while my son slept. Got him up and went to AK. Took our time to see the animals in the Oasis and went to TTBAB. Then walked over to the Dino dig until about 10 am. We left the park and went to check in at AKL concierge. We met my best friend, Becky, and her husband. Amazingly, though they drove 2 1/2 hrs to get there, they pulled in right behind us!! We were brought up to our wonderful room, then got ready to spend the day by the pool!! Her sisters that live a half hour away were already there and had chairs saved for us. My non risk taking, shy son decided he wanted to try the water slide!!Yeah!! He spent the afternoon going down the slide as often as he could with the help of Becky's nephew, who is 10. I had several Margarita's by the pool and we all had the best time ever!! Then we went up to the room to get ready for La Nouba!! Long story short, we had two extra tickets and were thrilled to be able to give them away to two very appreciative women (I told them that the bad part was they had to sit next to us!!) The show was wonderful. Spent the evening visiting with Bec and watching animals out our balcony. The next morning we were up early to go on the sunrise safari. It was awesome!! Worth every penny!! Breakfast was fabulous!! We split up from Bec and Sean. My son and I did all the animal trails, Wonders of flight, FP Kali Rapids, saw Lion King, then went back to do the rapids. I decided at the last minute to not do them and gave our FP to 2 young adults that were being explained to by a CM why FP were out!! They were real happy!! Then we went and waited in line for Tarzan. This was the worst part of the trip. It was so hot and not very good. I wish we had just skipped it. We made our way back to AKL to our savannah room on the second floor. It was great!! Pixie Dust was there...My son had accidently snapped his sword in half, that he got from the POC gift shop, on the way back from the Cirque show. He learned a lesson in Physics...Anyhow, concierge sent a runner to replace it and had it waiting in our room the next day...My son wanted to go to Simba's cubhouse so I brought him there until our 7pm ADR for Boma's. When we went to go pick him up he didn't want to leave!! They had fed him a little dinner, so we let him stay until after our dinner. Boma's was great!! Can't wait to go back!! My son still didn't want to leave Simba's but Sean bribed him with going to the arcade, and it worked! Bec and I had some girltime until the boys got back. We were exhausted from getting up so early so we went to bed by midnight...During the night, my son got up and woke me up and asked me to ask Miss Becky to stop snoring!!! It was her rather large husband doing the snoring, so I couldn't wait til morning to tell Bec what he said!!!LOL!!! We ordered coffee from room service and a bowl of fruit loops for DS as we packed up and watched animals from the balcony. We pulled out of the lodge around 10 am. We drove 13 hours straight to get home. I played the Lottery in FL, GA, and SC. We don't have a lottery in NC. Didn't win...oh well, next time, maybe. Anyhow, like I said, it was the best trip ever and I can't wait to get back. Now that I have an AP I keep thinking about all the trips I might go on in the coming year!!! Let me know if you have any questions.

Enjoyed reading your report ~ Thanx for posting.

Happy (Belated) Birthday!! It sounds like you had a wonderful trip! I spent my 40th at WDW last year, and think there is not a better way to spend a birthday! Thanks for sharing your experience!

I also wanted to tell you that I think it was really awesome of you to give other guests the magical moments you did at Cirque and Kali!

It's nice to read a report from a fellow NC'er. Sounds like you had a fun trip. Question - where in NC do you live? We live 1 hour east of Charlotte, and it takes us 9 hours. You must live near the coast or near Virginia.

You did what we want to do - stay a couple of nights at AKL so as to get to do the Sunrise Safari. It's my dream. We just never seem to do it - can't tear ourselves away from our favorite resorts, the Poly and the Beach Club. Your report, hopefully, has convinced my husband to try AKL maybe for a weekend trip.

I'm glad you had a Disney birthday. I've never been during my birthday but my DH has and he says there is nothing like it.

Glad you had fun! Watch out for those AP's - they cause trouble. You'll go back before you know it. we went 7/2-7/10 and we're trying to get in one more trip in 2005 and we'll most certainly go again in 2006 before they expire.

I live in Newport, just down yonder (as my husband says) from Atlantic Beach. Yes, it was a great way to spend my 40th, but for now on we're taking my husband...we both missed him very much!! He can go golfing while we go to the parks!! Going back to the resort for a swim really made the heat and crowds bearable!! I want to try the beach club sometime this year...I think my son will like stormalong bay. Have a magical day!!

I enjoyed your trip report! That's great of you to spread the pixie dust like you did; I bet those women were thrilled!

To tell you the truth, it was the best part of a wonderful trip. I'm ashamed to say that giving away the Cirque tickets was my very generous girlfriend's wonderful idea. She's also the best tipper on the planet. Just ask the valet guys, bellhop, room service deliverers and Laura, our waitress at Boma's!!!! Bec is a GEM!! She also gave me extra money when we were making our room bill even. When I pointed it out to her, she said it was the least she could do for having a great time and all she had to do was show up!!! She's a keeper!
