"My 40th Birthday Do Over" PTR May 2009 - ** Updated 4/1/09 with Itinerary **

Yay for finishing your paper! That must be such a huge relief. I love that picture of you and Winnie the Pooh too!

Well, I just found out that I will have to work on Easter Sunday. :headache:

I'm not happy because last week it looked like we would be finished on Saturday so that we would have Sunday off.

Then the icing on the cake - It's bad enough that we have to work Good Friday but we found out that they will be doing repairs to the electrical system from 12p - 2p on Friday - no power = no work. That will put us at least 2 hours behind (if not longer). Looks like I'll be bringing my air mattress to work tomorrow :sad2: If I have to stay here overnight, at least I'll be able to get some sleep :scared:

oh man.. that sucks..:headache: :hug:sorry to hear that..

I'm sorry about work-that just sucks. Hope the Disney movies help to pass the time.

It's 2:20 am on Saturday and I have been here at work since 8:00 am on Friday :scared:

By the time I leave here and drive home (about a 45 minute drive), it'll be time to come back to work. If I'm lucky I might get a few hours of sleep.

Hope you had a good time at work today.. :goodvibes at least its over huh??

Hope you had a great Easter..

Do the words "good time" and "work" belong in the same sentence :lmao:

Nope, not over yet.:sad2: Things are going well, they are just taking a long time :headache:

Friday - worked 17 1/2 hours
I didn't leave work until 3:30 am on Saturday. I got home at 4:30a, slept for four hours, got up and went back to work.

Saturday - worked 15 1/2 hours
I got here yesterday at 9:00 am and left at 2:30 this morning. On my way home, I had to pick my son up from his grandmother's house. I told him to keep talking so that I wouldn't fall asleep while I was driving :scared1: We got home around 3:30 am :scared:

Today (Easter sunday) - worked ???
I got four hours of sleep this morning. I got to work at 10:30 am. It's 9:30 pm and I'm still here. I would guess we will be here another 3 hours :sad2: Thankfully, after tonight its over.

:woohoo: :woohoo: 5 days until you leave for WDW :woohoo: :woohoo:

Please, please tell me you are getting paid overtime and going to buy yourself something very special at WDW as a treat. You are inspiring.

Inspiring - aw thanks, Mary

Bad news - Nope, no overtime. :sad2: Good news - I survived!!!! The project was successfully completed!! :woohoo:

Now I just have to get this last paper done. April 22nd can not come fast enough.

On a more positive note - I got my Mickey mail on Saturday (or was it Sunday? :confused3) I was so tired when I got home but I sure perked up when I saw that envelope!!! The next morning, I had to read it again to make sure I wasn't dreaming :rotfl:

It's official - in 31 days, I'M GOING TO DISNEYWORLD!!!! :woohoo: :yay: :cheer2: :dance3: :cool1:

I've been enjoying reading about your trip plans. It sounds like your going to have a great time. I'm planning my first solo trip for this December, so I can't wait to hear all about your trip.

I think your going to love POFQ. It is really my home away from home when I'm at Disney. I'm trying a new place for my next trip, and keep having pangs of regret. I'm so afraid I'm going to miss it terribly. Be sure not to miss the beignets. My mom and I shared an order nearly every night last trip. They were way too addictive!

Thanks for stopping by Crissy!

I just read your PTR. Christmastime at WL sounds wonderful :cloud9: I know you are going to have a great time!

I am really looking forward to staying at POFQ! I am also looking forward to the beignets :thumbsup2

Alright, it's time for me to buckle down. I've got 6 days to write a 25 page paper and a 20 minute powerpoint presentation.

I know my topic. I've gone to the library and done my research. I am ready to start writing this paper...that is if I can stay off the DIS :lmao:

OK, I'm going to go and be good.

Please send my some pixie dust pixiedust:

Thanks

It's a great resort. I stayed there the first time back in 1992 when I couldn't get into the then Dixie Landings resort. Once I got to POFQ I was so happy I had been shut out of Dixie Landings. I've only stayed elsewhere 2xs since then. In 2003 when we got bumped to AKL so they could shut down POFQ completely for renovations, and in 2006 on my first entire family trip when we stayed off-site. It was nice but not the same. I keep telling myself I'll be staying at a great place and won't be missing it too much.

:woohoo: Joining in on this party. I stalked you here from the MMM thread.

:cheer2:HAPPY BIRTHDAY, EARLY AND LATE.

Your boys are very handsome. And I know what you mean about 20 year olds wanting to sleep all day :sad2:.

Drinking around the World sounds like a blast. I wonder if they would fill a thermos up with the slushies hmmmmmmmm :upsidedow.................:rotfl:

See at the meet!!

Hello everyone!! Welcome to my first pre trip report! At first, I wasn’t going to do one. But then I figured I am soooo excited about this trip, I need to do something to keep my mind occupied until it’s time to leave.

Since I started planning this trip last November, I guess I should get everyone caught up on what’s happened so far.

First, the cast of characters:

Me - princess: – a die hard, tried and true, unabashed, Disneyphile!!!! I LOVE all things Disney and I’m not afraid to say it!!! I have been a fan of Disney since my first visit to Disneyland as a child. Some of my most treasured memories are of the times I spent at Disneyland with my Mother and my brother.

And that’s it!! Just me, myself and I spending time at my most favoriest place on earth!!!

Now, I know you have questions. I can hearing you saying “Angela, when are you going? What are you celebrating? Why are you going solo? Patience everyone. Your questions will all be answered in due time!

To answer your first question – “When are you going?” – I will be going to WDW from May 12th – May 19th :cheer2:

Next question – “What are you celebrating?” - I will be celebrating both my 40th and my 41st birthdays. “Two birthdays?” you ask. Why, yes! At WDW anything is possible!!! Last January I started thinking that I would love to celebrate my 40th birthday at Disney. I scoured the web for deals trying to make my dream a reality. But alas, it was not meant to be. As a substitute, I spent my 40th birthday at the Disney Store (it was the closest I could get to Disney :lmao:). But I vowed that day, that next year, I WOULD celebrate my 41st birthday at WDW no matter what!!!

So thanks to the wonderful “Stay 4 nights, get 3 nights free” promotion and a great deal on airfare – I’m going to Disneyworld!!!! Since you weren’t there to experience my joy at being able to go to Disneyworld for my birthday – here’s a reenactment for you – enjoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrfBLxkOfJ8

Now to answer your last question, “Why are you going solo?” I’ll tell you why – because I’m tired of doing things other people want to do – namely my children!! I am a single mom to two great sons – ages 20 and 15! They both love Disney (Momma raised them right!). The problem is that my oldest likes to sleep in (what and miss rope drop :scared1: ). And then most times, neither of them likes to do the “corny attractions” – Hall of Presidents, One Man’s Dream, Country Bear Jamboree, World Showcase and parades. I usually have to drag them to these things (which usually means I don’t enjoy them) or they complain so much that I usually give in and do what they want.

But not this time!!! Momma is going to do what Momma likes!!! I’m going to every rope drop, I’m going to greet characters, I’m going to watch parades and fireworks sitting down instead of trying to steal a glance as I am walking by!!! I’m going to…OK, so I can’t go to the Hall of Presidents because it’s closed but I’m going to the Tiki Room and Country Bear Jamboree. And I am going to tour EVERY country in EPCOT!!! I think it bears repeating – I’M GOING TO DISNEYWORLD!!!!

Next time – I’m going to Disneyworld!!! – now what?

Sorry it took me so long to get to your PTR but I am loving it so far. I concur on why Moms need to go on their own. Totally love DH and DD and love going with them but all they want to do is ride thrill rides. Or lay by the pool. That's great but sometimes, I want to do something else! and I don't want to fight to get to do it! Fighting should not be done on a vacation. Ruins the good vibes:)

Hi Angela,
I just had to reply because almost a year and a half ago, I spent my Birthday(Dec 13) at DisneyWorld, without my 20 year old son(who's lost the magic), stayed at the POFQ for the first time(it was awesome) and had my Birthday dinner at Le Cellier, with some fellow Diser's, followed by Illuminations and Soarin and it was my best Birthday ever. Rich and Vanessa were two of the people I met there and them, plus Kat(who won't be there this time) joined me on a cruise in January, so you will love meeting them, as well as everyone else and it will be a great Birthday Celebration. I Parasailed the morning of my birthday-because it was on my "bucket list" and it was a wonderful experience. I'm scarde of heights, so decided I would be brave enough to try it at Disney because I always feel safe there. So, I'm enjoying reading your reports and I keep up with the up coming trip, on the boards, so have a wonderful time. Colette

Colette:
Are you going to me at the meet on the 17th? I can't recall seeing your name on the list and I was wondering? I am also planning on parasailing on this trip. Someone on here mentioned buying the pictures they take of you while you do it. Did you do that? I have parasailed once before years ago in Cancun and loved it. It is a must do for me - on my Second time around bucket list I guess you call it :lmao:

Sorry Angela, didn't mean to hijack the thread.

Love it! We must be around the same age, because the clothes look frighteningly familiar! :rotfl2: the 70's were NOT a good decade for clothes!

Yea for the presentation being done. April 22nd is getting closer.....

Now what is wrong with these clothes, I ask you guys?:cool1: Back in the 70's, I was actually sewing and making clothes like this for my kids and for me. In fact, I was looking for a pattern the other day to make a dress for my DGD and I found a jumpsuit pattern exactly like this! If anybody out there needs an outfit like this....hey, I can help you out :rotfl2:
