"My 40th Birthday Do Over" PTR May 2009 - ** Updated 4/1/09 with Itinerary **

Good for you, Angela! I love what you've written here--it's a great example of why traveling solo is so wonderful. No more having to cave in to what other people want to do--you get to do it your way! You're going to have a great time! Although, yeah, for a solo trip, you're not spending much time alone are you? :lmao: I am actually coming home from my solo trip on the 12th as you are arriving for yours. I'm sorry I won't be able to join you and the rest of the DISers for your group culinary adventures on your birthday.

And thanks for that video, that was hilarious!

Hi Gray -

Thanks for stopping by! I'm sorry I won't get to meet you but I hope you have a fantastic time on your trip.

You know, it was only after I looked at my whole itinerary that I realized that this isn't much of a solo trip. But that's a good thing :thumbsup2

I've got a great mix of solo time and as well as time to meet with some DISers. This is going to be a fun trip. I'll have some alone time as well as time to share this experience with people who love Disney as much as I do - I've got the best of both worlds! Hey I'm Hannah Montana :lmao: :rotfl2:

P.S. - I love that video too. Every time I get bogged down by life, I watch that. That Stewie cracks me up :happytv:

***************************BREAKING NEWS******************************

I have just written 6 pages of my 20 page research paper. I am started to feel like I'm going to make the Tuesday deadline. (of course it would help if I could stay off the DIS :lmao:)

I still have to make my powerpoint presentation but at least I can say "I STARTED MY PAPER" :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

We now return you to your regularly scheduled program :surfweb:

Great report!!!! I'm really looking forward to meeting you next month. I decided the same thing about my birthday. I was determined to celebrate at WDW (mines the day before yours). Looking forward to hearing what you think of POFQ, it looks beautiful.

Great job with the paper! Your almost half way there....keep going!!!! :wizard:

Thanks Tink! I'm looking forward to meeting you too!

Update on the paper - 11 pages down and 9 pages to go ! :woohoo:

I decided that I would stay at ASMo since I had never stayed at an All Star Resort. Until one day, I was innocently reading the DIS when out of nowhere, someone posted that they were considering changing their ressies from ASMo to POFQ. And the cost was only $222 more. And they were going around the same time as me. Wait a darn minute! You mean there may be availability at POFQ??!!!! That can’t be. Why, you ask? Because there is never availability at POFQ when I’m at WDW. I know because I always check. There are rooms at POR but never at POFQ.
(I’d like to give a shout out to Aubriee for posting her resort quandary. If it hadn’t been for your post, I never would have looked at POFQ )
POFQ solved that problem. The resort looks beautiful, calm and serene!!! I love New Orleans and I am looking forward to exploring the Port Orleans resort. I got even more excited about my choice once I read about the carriage ride, the Scat Cat Club and the beignets. Yes, I had truly found my home away from home :cloud9:

Part 4: Table for one????

Hey, How come I'm just now finding this pretrip report? Good job! I always say I'm going to do a trip report then for some reason never get around to it. It's not too long now. Can't wait to meet you and the rest of the group (of course I already know Rich and Adrian though). You are going to love POFQ. It's my favorite moderate resort. It's so quaint and quiet, plus it's so small that no room is very far from the main building or bus stop.

Hi Angela,
I just had to reply because almost a year and a half ago, I spent my Birthday(Dec 13) at DisneyWorld, stayed at the POFQ for the first time(it was awesome) and had my Birthday dinner at Le Cellier, with some fellow Diser's, followed by Illuminations and Soarin and it was my best Birthday ever. Rich and Vanessa were two of the people I met there and them, plus Kat(who won't be there this time) joined me on a cruise in January, so you will love meeting them, as well as everyone else and it will be a great Birthday Celebration. Colette

aaah, garsh:blush::hug: We did have a good time down there that week didn't we? It's funny how you can meet someone for the first time and feel like you've known them forever.

Hi Vanessa -

Thanks for stopping by and reading my PTR! I am so looking forward to POFQ! Hopefully we can get together and visit the Scat Club one night.

I am really getting excited about this trip. I am looking forward to meeting you. And maybe talking you into getting on ToT (insert evil laugh) :lmao:

**********************Breaking News Update*************************

I FINISHED MY PAPER!!!! Sorry for shouting but I am so freakin’ happy.

Our building was evacuated yesterday because we lost power. That break really came in handy because I went straight home to finish my paper.

I also finished the powerpoint that I have to present in class tonight – 36 slides :scared1:

Now I just have to get through this week. It looks like we might not have to work on Easter Sunday which is great.

Once that project is completed, I can start working on my last paper – 25 pages and another powerpoint presentation. :headache:

Things are starting to slow down. I’m excited because I booked a PartyLite show but now I have to figure out how to make time to prepare for that while I’m working on this paper :scared:

I will be glad when April 22nd gets here because all of my crazy deadlines will be OVER!!! Then I can concentrate on what’s really important – getting ready for my trip!!! :cool1:  :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :cheer2:

Girl, you so deserve this trip! You are busting your tail!!!! I admire your drive and ambition though! Good for you! :thumbsup2

I thought I would post a picture of me. This was taken at Disneyland in July 1977

Hey Bettyann -

I gave my presentation in class tonight :cheer2: and I think it went pretty good.

I am so relieved to be finished. But the relief is short lived because I have another paper due two weeks from tonight :scared:

April 22nd can't get here soon enough

It'll all be over before you know it and then you can go Whew....

Cute picture btw.. I just saw that.. :thumbsup2 I wish I got to do things like that when I was younger, but we only took one family vacation that I can remember and that was to Little Rock, Arkansas.. I think thats why now as a parent I make sure that I take my kids to places.. because I never got to.. Makes for wonderful memories and cute pictures.. :goodvibes

Love it! We must be around the same age, because the clothes look frighteningly familiar! :rotfl2: the 70's were NOT a good decade for clothes!

Yea for the presentation being done. April 22nd is getting closer.....

Thanks Bettyann!

I grew in Los Angeles and my mother took us to Disneyland at least once a year. I have some many wonderful memories from those trips. I know I have more pics but I can't find them. :confused3

That's one of the things I remember most about growing up - traveling. We would go on lots of trips. And I have fond memories of each one of those trips. I wanted that for my kids so I have tried to take them on as many trips as I could.

A few years ago, I won a trip to L.A. We went in December and I arranged for us to stay at DLR for a few days . It was so cool to be able to take my kids to Disneyland and share the same experiences with them that I had as a kid :goodvibes And Disneyland at Christmas was so beautiful. We also enjoyed California Adventure. I hope to be able to take them back to DLR in the near future.

You want to hear something funny? That jumpsuit was my favorite outfit :lmao::lmao::lmao: I'd like to think that my taste in clothes has improved

1 paper down and 1 to go!!! Let's get er done :rotfl:!

Congrats on getting your paper done! Cute pic! I was born in Glendale Ca and we moved to Santa Barbara when I was 2. Also have fond memories of Disneyland. My inlaws took the girls and I for their first trip when my oldest was almost 3 and my little on was 5mo. We had a blast. Hope to go back this year for MNSSHP. Goo luck on your next project.

I breathed a sigh of relief...til I remembered I had one more paper to do. :rotfl2:
