The first thing that came to mind was "dump" as in "grab bag."
I have heard fruitcake described as a dessert chef cleaning off what's left over on his counter top to make one cake.

It's the recipe where you make a white cake, poke holes in it, and drizzle your favorite Jello flavor over the top, then you stick it in the fridge and top with Cool Whip before you serve. It's so easy, and so good! :thumbsup2
