This is one of Favorites, my DS 2 calls it men jumping in water he laughs not at the jokes of course but at the people.

Its was originally Takeishis Castle and the contestants won nothing for being on the show

DH and I Googled Takeshi's castle one night...here's what we found.

"Takeshi's Castle is guarded by Count Takeshi and his henchman. Different henchmen appear in different games throughout the program. The toughest of these are the Elite Guard who graud the castle from General Lee (also known as General Tani) and his volunteers.

In each show, General Lee gets 100 volunteers together who have to pass all the challenges to get the chance to storm Takeshi's Castle. Each round the numbers of volunteers is dramatically cut down in size as there is loads who do not make it through to the next round.

A final few volunteers then make it to the Final Showdown to face the Emerald Guard in their "dinky daleks" or "mobile discos" as Craig Charles says."

I guess there are other versions that actually do translate the real show...but of course we Americans make it totally outrageously hilarious!!!!

Did anyone see the version they did here in America with Tony Hawk and some snowboarding girl (I think)....not nearly as funny as the original...just more raunchiness.

I read that on the real Japanese show, the prizes to the winners were things like pot holders. And some of these people really get wracked up! My favorite is when they have to run through doors. Some of the doors are paper, and some are wood and locked. They hit these things at top speed, and for pot holders!

OMG, too funny - My DS3 calls it "people falling in water"!

It's been a regular in this house for about a year now. We all love it!

I love the contestants' battle cries--

One time on Irritable bowl syndrome a girl did a peace sign and they dubbed "I'm wearing 2 thongs" I about peed my pants!!

I think my favorite game is the surf board one and the velcro wall one!!! I love the slo-mos with the wedgies!!

OMYGOSH I LOVE THIS SHOW TOO!!!!

I had a laughing fit so bad the one night they were doing "rotating surfboards of death", the contestant fell off and Kenny said "scraped off like a bad piece of gum", I was wheezing so bad I couldnt breathe!!

My other favorite one is where they do the horse racing things with the roller skates and the one horse's name is "Ham & Cheese on Rye", I don't know why but I think thats just the funniest thing...

I love when they do marathons, they run it back to back all day & night, I'm at work and the customers coming in are wondering what the heck I'm watching...LOL

OMG, they had a marathon showing of this show on April Fool's Day, and I think we watched it for like 12 hours....it is hilarious and you have to laugh at the da*n stuff they say and do. I started watching in one night not knowing what it was, and laughed myself silly and I become an instant fan.
