MWY Is An 18.9% Cost Increase! Am I Doing The Math Correctly?

How fair is it to compare Disney full-price or even advance price for the new MYW tickets to DISCOUNT vendor prices for the current park hopper passes? Of course you're going to see a big increase in price if you compare like that. If you compare Disney's pricing on the current park hopper tickets to the discount vendors pricing there is a big difference which is why alot of people buy through them. Personally, I'd be more interested in a comparison of the equivalent Disney pricing of the current park hopper passes to the MYW tickets. I think that would tell us more. It's doubtful that the discount vendors are going to be unable to sell the MYW tickets or that they will sell them for the same price as Disney

The point is to compare what is available now and what will be available after Jan 2, 2005. Once the quantity of PHP's is gone, the only choice is to purchase the MYW tickets. Those who are trying to decide what would be best for their future trips only have a small window of opportunity before that window closes forever. Some will fare better with PHP's, so they need the comparison of the lowest PHP ticket available and what will be available in 2005. Personally, I wasnt trying to be fair, just factful. What Disser worth their salt pays more for a ticket than they have to regardless of who is selling it? (as long as they are reputable)
Im not flaming anyone either, and my family will take advantage of the 10 day MYW with no expiration and a couple of new PHP's that we will use for our next 4 trips (DVC) so yes it can work out, but a price increase is a price increase and bottom line is you will have to spend more money upfront to realize a savings if you are a PHP fan.

And that is why yesterday we ordered our 4-day PHP's from Hotwire!!! Didn't care about the expiration/no-expiration issue (although it is nice that ours won't expire). However, we are going Easter break and want the hopper flexibility at such a busy time.

Glad for those of you who are benefiting from the change. As for us, glad we got PHP's before they're gone! Please don't just fall for the hype! Run the #s and make your own decisions!

Pretty simple to me. Disney now supersizes:

4 day parkhopper from Hotwire: $208 = $52 per entry
10 day MYW hopper pass with no expiration = $347 = $35 per entry - 33% discount
10 day MYW hopper w/plus with no expiration = $395 = $40 per entry - 23% discount

Just like Mcdonald's you pay a little bit more, but get a lot more fries. The question is do you really need the calories? If you are a loyal Disney consumer then this is obviously a great deal for admission.
