MVMCP worth the extra $$?

We went to the MVMCP on December 8th. We arrived just after 4 and had a bit of drizzle but it stopped by the time the party started and it was a great night. I really had a blast and my family enjoyed it. However, even though I warned them all day to stay home and rest because it would be a long night, they insisted on hitting some outlet malls. So the were not as excited to be up late at night walking around more. So, we didn't get to do all the things I really wanted to. And my 5dd's shoes fell apart from spending 2 days walking in the rain, :umbrella: so she did more than her share of whining about her sore feet. But it was still fun and worth it to me. I plan to go back at Christmas time again in about 5 years, if they still have the party then I will be going again. But this time, no one will leave the room until party time. :teeth:

I don't think you'll get a difinative answer form this crowd :rotfl: .

We thought the party was well worth it. We attended on Dec. 13 and were able to enter the park @ 4p.m. with only the party tix. This saved a day on our 10 day no expiry tix. We had 8 hours in the park and were able to ride everything we wanted multiple times with little or no wait. We saw the night b-4 Xmas show, had the photo taken, had great seats for the 2nd parade, saw the fireworks, and indulged in the hot chocolate and cookies multiple times.

Try, at least once. Only you can truly decide if it is worth it!

Went Dec, 16th.

Really liked it as it was different. Parade is great. Road everything with Indy card the longest wait but walked on Pooh right at 7.

Only day in the parks on the way to the cruise and closed down the park with my 9 yeard old DD so I say yes.

Got to hand it to Disney for generating interst during a usually quiet time. It was fun and would do it again...

I think it depends on when you go. If you are at WDW during the earlier parties that is the only time you can see the special parades, shows and fireworks. If you go at the end of the month you can see all these things during regular park hours anyway so its not worth spending the extra money. We went on 12/18 and thought it was not worth the cost just for the cookies and the picture.

LOVE it! WORTH it! I love both MVMCP and MNSSHP so we've been alternating, although I was lucky enough to do BOTH this year!!!! :cool1:

Go once and see for yourself. That is the only way you'll know for sure because you will get so many different answers/different perpectives.

They started charging more for Fridays this year (and Halloween night for MNSSHP). It's just because Fridays and Halloween night are high demand/very popular, especially with the locals so it's another way they realized they could make more money, that's all.

MVMCP is TOTALLY worth it!!! I go every year. We always go the first two weeks of December so the crowds are not that bad... we can do everything in the park and the special Fireworks are beautiful!! It sounds like it gets very crowded as it gets closer to Christmas. We went on Dec 4th this year and we could have probably done the park 1 and a 1/2 to 2 times around if we didn't load up on cookies and hot cocoa which totally slowed us down... LOL :rotfl: :rotfl2: And I always say I am not going to overdo it with the cookies and cocoa next year and I always WAY OVER DO IT!!! :rotfl2: LOL
I have never done the Halloween party, but plan on doing it this year. A friend of mine told me they went on Halloween Day and it was horrible... He said they could not even walk through the park, and to top it off Halloween fell on a weekend the year he went.

I am a very FRUGAL person and thought it was worth the $$...
With tip[s from Tour Guide Mike, we did not wait in lines for rides and had a GREAT seat for the parade and the fireworks alone are awesome.
I don't know if we will ever go again at Christmas time (we went on Thurs Dec 15 to the party) only because it was WAY more crowded during the week (there Dec 11-18th) than we expected!!!!!

I am glad we did it once. It was much more crowded than we thought it would be (we were there the 1st). We went knowing that we would concentrate on just doing the special Xmas stuff - not rides (we had plenty of time for that during the rest of the vacation). We still did not get to everything - although we probably could have if we didn't see both parades. Our DD couldn't wait - so we walked up just before 1st parade and watched from further back - knowing we would get a good spot for the second...so I guess we could have planned out time better.... It was worth it for us to do it this once concidering our DD8 is the right age and really enjoyed it! While waiting for the second parade Santa came by told her he was watching (with a smile) and handed her one of his business cards - that alone made the evening worth every penny!!! (although I would have been happier if I had caught Cindy Lauper!)

I'm torn between yes and no. We were there on 12/13 this year, and it wasn't a great time for us. I think it was just a waste of money. HOWEVER, if it wasn't so cold it would have been alot better. AND if my children were a little bit older (they are 5 and 7), it would have been alot better. We took a nap during the day but it was still too late for the kids. We brought along winter coats and mittens, but the kids were still too cold. I got a double stroller for the kids and it was really hard trying to get through the crowds. While we were at Tomorrowland, the kids wanted to go on Pirates. I tried for almost an hour and couldn't get through the crowds (the 2nd parade had just started). If we didn't have the double stroller, we probably could have gotten through the crowds easier. We did notice the lines for the rides were empty, but I just couldn't get through to the other side of the park! lol.

When we decided to leave because the kids were just so cold and very tired, everyone else decided to leave, too. Our family tradition is to stop at the candy shop on Main Street on our last night at WDW and get fudge and candy...we had to skip it this trip because the crowds were so massive.

So, if you have small kids in your family, maybe you should rethink going. The cold weather and the crowds put a damper on it for my family.

We didn't use a pass day on the day we went and for our length of stay that worked out to about the same amount of money. And, I suspect we got about as much done as we would have on a regular early close day. So from that perspective it was worth it, don't know that I'd burn a pass day and do MVMCP although it might be worth it to take a somewhat more leisurely pace than we had to use to get as much in as we did.
