Hi Folks! My family of 7 is headed to WDW for (the 5 kids') first time in Nov. We are planning to be there on my oldest dd's 13th bday- this was to be our first day in the parks, and she chose to go to MK on her bday. (Smart girl. :) We are going during free dining :) but can't get a reservation at her restaurants of choice on her bday (Cinderella or BoG- too booked, of course) Sadly, this is also a night that MVMCP is happening and therefore, MK closes at 7.

What would you do??? I could convince her, perhaps, to do a different park during the day and then go to MVMCP for a celebration that evening, and do another full day of MK later in the trip... Is MVMCP worth the extra money? We love love all things Dis, and I don't doubt for a minute that it would be spectacular... OR, should we just keep our original plan and do a full-ish day at MK, followed by the party? OR should I just skip the party altogether, get a cake and call it good?

I have serious Dis-stress here! Haha. I'm trying so hard to make it all perfect since we've longed to do this trip for forEVER and I don't think we will do it again. We don't have park hoppers (is that a mistake?), but have a 6 day pass and planned to do multiple days at MK at Epcot...

Help me DisFriends. You're my only hope... ;)

Hi there!!
I totally understand your dilemma! We were there last year during December and contemplated the same type of thing (but no birthday).
We ended up doing to party and it was great, didn't regret it at all!
So I would say go for it if you can swing it budget wise. Maybe use that as part of the birthday celebration.
Either way it's Disney and you'll have a great time!
:-)

I too am going in November and hemmed and hawed about whether or not to get MVMCP tickets.

After reading so many great things about it, I decided to go for it. I can't wait! No regrets! I've always dreamed of seeing WDW in full Christmas swing, and this will be the closest I come for a while to come! Just wish the tree would be up...

I say go for it! Have a great trip!

MVMCP is absolutely worth it!!!!!!
i've been a few times and have had the best time.
you get hot chocolate and cookies and there's character dance parties. i especially like going to cosmic ray's during it cuz its like a "club" with a DJ, music, and flashing lights and of course characters dancing with guests.

i also love seeing snow on main street.

and i wish i could find the one pirate christmas song on youtube cuz i loved it. part of it was "i think i lost my eye patch, better go and get it, we need a pirate crhstimas now".

and its the perfect time to also get on some rides with minimal wait.

i would suggest going with the option that gives you the most time at MK which would be to do the MVMCP and then do another full day at MK.

also if she wants to go to BOG i suggest going for lunch when its quick service.
personally my family does not have big breakfast eaters in it so we just have a fruit and grain bar when we get up and then we go get in line for BOG at 10am cuz it opens at 10:30am so by then its a good time for us to eat lunch since we eat so little for breakfast.

We are going in November for the first time (all other trips have been in May or October) and we are also going to do MVMCP for the first time! We have our first day at the parks planned for MK-a regular full day. The first MVMCP on the schedule is at the end of the week. We also don't have park-hoppers. We will go to DHS during the day and have dinner there, then head over the MK afterwards. It works for us because my kids (3 boys ages 12, 10 and 5) aren't interested in nearly as much at DHS so we can go through our rides easily and leave without feeling like we missed anything. It also gives us a sense of relief that we don't have to cram the ginormous MK in on one day-it's much easier to go with the flow, and to skip rides if the lines are too long, knowing we'll be back. :)

Christmas is our favorite time of the year- so of course we HAVE to go to MVMCP. I have heard several good things about it and we can't wait for my nieces to see everything!

I would say go for it. It's a hard decision to spend that much money on a hard ticket event. If you decide not to you'll always wonder "what if". If your kids love meeting characters this is the time to do it. The parade and holiday wishes are awesome! The wait times for rides are minimal. I could care less for the free cookies and hot chocolate. Snow on Main Street is a nice touch but being from Upstate New York we get plenty of snow! While it was a great experience I don't think we'll spend the money to do it again but I'm glad we took gamble.
