I was just talking to my husband and he asked we do you do from 5 until 7. I said I do not know. I was wondering if counter service restaurants were open. Also is you get your wristband can you go on rides in the 5 - 7 time slot. Tell me what to do. My family is not the type that does the dinner with reservations thing. We mostly do counter service. We are from New Orleans so we are a bit spoiled when it comes to good food. So we tend to eat more counter service. In the past we have been disappointed with some of the reservation type restaurants we picked to eat at while in Disney.

Is anything closed during the party. I think a saw somewhere that not all the rides are open. Thanks. We can't wait to get to Disney.

We made resevations at the Pop Century the week it opens.:bounce: :Pinkbounc

Last year the park did not close for regular guests until 6:00pm, not 5:00pm, so all the rides were open until then. Then at 6:00pm they had the regular fireworks. Then those with MVMCP wristbands were permitted to go to Tomorrowland where the rides were still open, they checked for the wristband. Others were directed out. Cosmic Rays was open throughout the party. Most of the rides are open during MVMCP, a few exceptions were Hall of Presidents, Tiki Room, Train, Riverboat.

Why get to the Magic Kingdom at 5?? Stop at the Contemporary at 6, or so. Have a counter service meal at their express meal place on the lower level. If there's time, wander around the Contemproary.....Then walk over to the Magic Kingdom for arrival around 7. :smooth:

Last year this is what I did at that time.

I had taken a little nap in my room at The Swan, took a shower, then had the very best cheeseburger and onion rings at The Dolphin Fountain at The Dolphin.

From there, I went to MVMCP.

We were there at 4:00 for MVMCP last year. We had a 4:15 PS at CP for dinner. When the park closed at 6, we rode everything in Tomorrowland, watched fireworks and got our picture taken so we did not have to worry about that later in the evening. This strategy helped us do everything we wanted to do at MK in time to see the last parade of the evening.

I have been to two MVMCPs, and both times they allowed MVMCPers with wristbands to stay even as the park "closed" to those without MVMCP wristbands.

Thank you for giving me your hints. We will be in the MK that day. We plan to arrive around 12 or 1 and do what as many rides as we can. It seems my family loves Peco Bills perhaps we can eat before they close if they close. I think we will pick up our armbands as early as they will let us. Thanks I think I have it figured out.

Pecos Bill's is one of the few counter service restaurants that remain open during MVMCP.

A couple years ago my DH and me went to Chef Mickey's for the character dinner between park closing and MVMCP. It worked great!

Last year we got there a little early and it worked out great, we got the arm band and walked through the gates just as the fireworks started. We then went over to Tommorowland and had dinner. After that we were able to get a bunch of rides done before the crowds entered the park, especially pooh which can have a very long wait. MVMCP is probably my favorite thing about the Magic Kingdom, it really brings out the holiday spirit and the kid in you.
