MVMCP--What if it rains?

DH & I are in hopes of doing the MVMCP this Dec. Should we reserve a night whenever tickets go on sale, or should we wait until we arrive at WDW? What happens if it rains? I know that the Christmas parade and fireworks would probably be cancelled, and that is the main attraction for us. Has anyone had experience with the MVMCP and bad weather? What do you experts advise?

MVMCP 2002 Rain rain rain rain rain! While the MVMCP continued the nights it was scheduled, a number of activities were cancelled. Some guests asked and were given vouchers to return another evening.

The night we went was cold. We pre-bought our tickets a month before going for a Friday night. That night had sold out.

MVMCP 2003, weather was great! But again, the night we went was SOLD OUT (Friday) and it said so that morning at the entrance to the MK

My advice is that if you want to go on a FRIDAY night, buy your tickets ahead of time. As to the weather......it's a youknowwhat shoot!

We are thinking of going on a Tuesday night. We might leave another night open just in case. But it looks like from your experience that the show does go on rain or shine (or dark as this case may be).

We always go on Sunday or Tuesday night early in the month and wait until we get there to get the tickets. Not only because of the weather but also because they are non-refundable. I've never had a problem, those nights were never close to sold out. I believe only Friday nights sold out.

We lucked out the past 2 years, Tuesday night had the best weather night of our trip both years.

The party does go on rain or shine, but the parade and outdoor shows maybe cancelled. The parade is the highlight for me, I would be really disappointed to miss it.

Dec. 2002, we were supposed to go to MVMCP---and the night we had pre-bought our tickets for, there was a torrential downpour! I am from Florida- so I know about rain, but this was not rain, it was impossible to stay dry - even with a rain parka and umbrella; quite a bit of flooding too- given that the drains couldn't keep up with the amount of water falling from the sky.

While they didn't cancel MVMCP, they readily admitted that the parades, outdoor shows, and fireworks wouldn't be shown- so we were able to get a refund for our tickets (unused). We had to mail them into Disney, and my credit card was credited for the entire amount.

Disney is used to a little rain - and most shows will still go on (even the fireworks); but in the event of torrential downpours, they will give you a refund.

As the other posters have said though- if you are going during a busy time (the closer to Christmas, the busier it will be), or on a Friday - then you might want to buy your tickets in advance just in case it sells out --Jill
