MVMCP - Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know...

I haven't made it through the entire board yet, however I had a somewhat stroke of genius (it happens sometimes) and I had to strike while the iron was hot. I've noticed a lot of people said that it does getting chilly at night and some have mentioned a blanket to sit on for the parade because the ground is cold. DH and I travel light when we go (the necessities and a few snacks in a backpack and that's it).

So I was thinking of how I could get the same luxury of sitting on a blanket but on a smaller scale and then the light bulb went off  Hey why don't you just go to the fabric store and get some fleecy fabric and make mini "butt" blankets. You can make them as simple or fancy as you want (ie - just a single piece cut in a 16 x 16 square OR two pieces sewn together really quick on the sewing machine)

I just thought this was a good way to keep the tushies warm but not having to lug around a blanket.

Not sure if this was mentioned (as I'm at work :guilty:, and did not have time to finish reading the previous posts), but I always eat before the party (around 5ish or so) at one of the monorail hotels, and then just take the monorail over. I also recommend finding a spot for the parade near a cookie station. My DH and I always grab a cookie (or two!) and some hot cocoa to enjoy while we sit and watch the parade!

We have tickets for MVMCP on the 12th of November. I know it's early to be in the Christmas spirit, but we are only at WDW for a few days, pre-cruise, and wanted to do this. To the poster who was wondering if the park would even be decorated for Christmas this early -- I can't see Disney NOT going whole-hog on Christmas decorations for a Christmas party, regardless of how early is might seem.

Our plan for the day of the party is to not even bother with regular park tickets. We are staying at Bay Lake Tower so we'll probably kill the day hanging at the pool or browsing shops until 4pm, then take advantage of the lighter crowds (supposedly pre-Thanksgiving is supposed to be lighter crowds anyway, and we are hoping that the earlier MVMCP won't be as busy either).

I'd like to try for watching the later parade and trying to get some rides in during the early one, but a lot depends on the kids and how tired they are. One plus is that our bodies will still likely be on Mountain Time (we arrive on the 10th), and it won't seem as late.

We are attending this party as well. I feel confident enough that the decorations will be up in MK. We have dinner ressies at CP at 4:35. I'm also hoping for low crowds this week. We will be there 11/11-11/17.:)

I'm going either Tuesday Dec 8th or Thursday Dec 10th. Anyone know if Pop Warner kids attend this event? Don't know which date to pick to avoid crowds. :confused3
Thanks.

:yay: I'm going Tuesday Dec 8!!! I just kind of picked at random, and like a crazy person I had to buy my tickets the day they went on sale. :rotfl: So looking back I don't remember if I intended to pick a weeknight or not, but now I'm grateful I did. I've done some reading on the Pop Warner kids and from what I can tell they aren't that noticeable and don't really contribute too much to the overall crowds.

I've never been before, in 2006 I went o MNSSHP and loved it!! Someone mentioned something about priority nights (I think that's what it was called) what and when are those?

What are pop warner kids???

And....I am a Disney Visa card holder, but I don't know how to find out about discounts on stuff. Is there a website or something to check for different discounts, or do you ask everytime you shop at a store or make a reservation, etc... Like I wouldn't have thought to ask about discounted MVMCP tickets....I guess Im just cluelss.

I also don't understand how the reward points work. I know last year I used some, but I had just opened my card and they told me what to do. Since then, I havent' used any nor have I checked out if I have any to use. Do they expire? I need a good place to go to read about how this works. I think I'll try their website (disney chase ), but anyone else have a website that does a good job explaining all the perks of the card that is reader friendly??

I have a MVMCP question. Where do they usually have the cookies and hot chocolate set up? Are there multiple locations? I think that I once heard that they set up near Casey's, but that's all that I know.

I want to try to get close to one of those spots for the parade in case we need refills. popcorn::

Thanks! :santa:

Here you go
This is the official rewards page on disney's site. If you access your credit card online (which you should cause it is awesome!) you can order your new rewards card (it is separate from the credit card) online or add money to one you already have. You just want to watch doing that because they do expire.

Pop warner is a junior football and cheer leading organization which holds there finals at the Wide World of Sports in Disney World the first week of Dec.

From what I read they compete during the day so they don't impact the crowds during the day, however you may notice some in the parks at night. I can't tell you from experience, but I've heard it doesn't really impact the parks.

Anyone have any thoughts on where they will be? :confused3

Sounds like a good plan:thumbsup2 I may have to steal this idea!:santa::santa:

Dec. 8th is one of the nights that DVC members were able to get a discount on tix, so it might be more crowded.

Thank you!! :thumbsup2

Are these discount dates available for all to see and thus, plan the MVMCP night? In that case, Thursday Dec 10th sounds like a winner. :woohoo:

Last year they were set up in Cosmic Rays and somewhere in Liberty Square (Sorry I don't remember where) I also think that there were a couple of other locations but Liberty Square & Cosmic Rays were where I got mine.

Thanks...I'm glad to hear that there were multiple locations last year. I hope that they continue to do this. :santa:

Do people (with a party ticket and wristband) start lining up to see Mickey/Minnie in Toontown before 7 p.m? It's not re-roped off again is it? I would want to get this out of the way first if I can't talk my dd into just seeing them at AK that morning.:goodvibes

I have a question for those who have done the party before....

What were the times of the different shows, parades, wishes, etc...?

Thanks!

Lat yr set up for cookies were all over..Cosmic Rays, pinocchio hause, this woodys round up in frontier land, and this place by the us president thing. Thats all I can remember.
Also, no one said they have more that hot cocoa and cookies!!!
There is also apple juice and apple slices in little bags, that are great to get, and give as a snack later on, or if ya have a fridge in your room, the next morn for bfast, or whatever! They did limit ya last yr, the yr before ya went up and took as many as yo wanted, last year they were doing the handing out of things! I guess there were some greedy people?
Anyway...remember you can't get any till 7pm when the party starts! And also, the cocoa is hot as hades, last yr we always had to get some cold water to water it down a tad, or ice..it was too hot!!

As far as the parade goes, we found the best spot to be in frontier land, by woodys place, main st was great cause ya got to see the snow falling, but the crowds were a heck of a lot thinner on the other side. PLus after the parade, a lot of people started to leave, mainly the people with the younger kiddies.

If ya can stay till its over, don't rush for the buses or monorail, you will be waiting a while anyway, remember the stores on the way out all have the mvmcp souvineers, stay behind till 12:30, we stayed till 1am, the buses run till 2am!!!

Eat an early dinner, get in the gates at 4pm, go on a few of your fav rides, till the party starts at 7!!

Thats about all my tips!!
HAve a zipidee-doo-da-zippidy day!!

Thanks for the tip(s)! I'm trying to get everyone hyped up for this, they're just not there yet...

We are booked for Dec. 9-16 with NO Park Hoppers...I have not bought tickets but I am still considering MVMCP...(The CM on the phone when I booked sounded like a car salesman trying to sell me an extended warranty...)

I'm just not sold on the idea of spending another $200 for a special parade and fireworks show...We will have already been on the rides during the day, so that is not a selling feature for me...

However, if I do buy tickets for MVMCP, can we essentially Park Hop on that day even though we don't have Park Hoppers? Go to AK for example in the morning and then the MK for the party at night?
