MVMCP- Sunday 11/25...Yay or Nay?

I just read the thread and the dates. Looks like our only option for going to MVMCP would be Sunday 11/25 as that is our last night at WDW. I was already planning on doing MK that day, but now I realize if we do that and don't buy tickets to the event, we have to leave the park by 6pm. I just spoke with my friend who went this year on 12/10 and said it was "so crowded it was impossible to get anywhere so we didn't even do the rides". How accurate would this be the Sunday after Thanksgiving? Anyone do that date in 2017? I don;t want to pay almost $400 for the four of us and feel like sardines trapped on Main Street and not actually do anything else. Kids are 12 and 10 so no strollers or anything to worry about. Thoughts?
