We will be at Disney 12/4-12/13. I have purchased tickets for the MVMCP on 12/11--my DS's 5th birthday. I am wondering if it is worth it to also purchase tickets for the 12/9 party so that if the weather is horrible on 12/11 we don't miss all of the festivities. I know that it is an extra expense, but is there enough to do that if the weather is ok we would enjoy it twice. We are traveling with my in-laws and our kids (7,4 and 1). I was keeping the MVMCP as a big surprise for my son's birthday, but I am afraid of getting to our next to the last day and having horrible weather and not being able to enjoy the party.

Also, if I do not prepurchase tickets, how soon do they sell out. Will I be able to get tickets down there for the 12/9 (Tuesday) party? I'm asking this for two reasons: 1) If we see from the weather report that Thursday's weather will be great then we may not spend the money to do it 2x and 2) when we arrive on 12/4 I am thinking of just DH and I going to the 12/4 MVMCP by ourselves (after the kids are in bed) as my birthday is 12/5.

Hope this isn't too confusing. Tell me what you think!!

My DH and I have done two parties for the past two years. We LOVE it and don't have kids so we are probably going at a faster pace and stay busy easily for two parties. Also...I will say we went twice this past year and the first night was great weather-wise.....the second night it rained and rained and rained...did I mention it rained?? We tried to tough it out but ended up finally just giving up around 9:30 or so. Disney was incredibly nice and refunded our money for that night. But I would have been really disappointed if I had planned on one only and had that happen. I say go for two if it isn't a financial hardship or keeps you from doing something else you would really like to do.

We have done this several times, and once is enough. We find that the crowds are bigger for MVMCP than for the general admission.

I believe that sometimes the dates for MVMCP does sell out, so you might want to take the chance and buy again.

I am in the minority, did not enjoy MVMCP. We did it on our first family trip in 98 with three kids and two sets of grandparents. Too many people to travel with but that is a different story - lol! My kids were 4, 5 and 7 at the time. The parks were very crowded. We rushed from show to show and were shut out of each and every one. We got our pictures taken and saved a spot for the Christmas parade. It was horrid, the pushing and behavior of adults, if you moved one inch somebody was jumping in your spot. The special Christmas parade was really nice. We watched the fireworks and make our way out through the crush on Main St. It was still fairly early but kids and gp's were all tired. Thinking back on it DH and I should have stayed and enjoyed the later night atmosphere but I think at that point we all were cranky. All in all it was not a good experience for us and probably could not talk DH into doing it again. So to sum it all up -- I would say do it once to see if you like it, most do. But with the young ages of your kids, I don't think two late nights would be wise IMHO!

Last year I believe only Fridays sold out in advance. We went on Tuesday Dec 10 and bought tickets the same day. We were waiting to see the forecast, we were going to go Tuesday, then it looked bad so we figured Thursday but on Tuesday afternoon the weather cleared up (after 24 hours+ straight rain) and it looked good, plus Thursday's forecast turned bad. I checked at the front desk and both dates still had tickets so we waited it out. It turned out to be a smart move, Thursday night had torrential rain. Worth the extra to forfeit the advance price.

We have gone the past 5 years and MVMCP is always a highlight. Go to the back of the park when you get there and get your picture done early, there will be no line. Last year they allowed admission after 4:00pm with MVMCP tickets. Going early was great, we did alot of rides between 4:00 and 6:00, it wasn't very crowded. Then they allowed you to go to Tomorrowland after the 6:00 fireworks while they cleared the park (you got wristbands when you entered with MVMCP tickets). Then at 7:00pm everything reopened. It was not crowded at all. We plan on Tuesday Dec 9 this year but will again wait until we get there to see the weather forecast. Last year was the only year we had rain, so hopefully this December it will not be rainy.

We've been going to MVMCP at least once and for last few years twice a year since 1992.We just don't move as quick as we did a few years ago.One party we do all the live shows and parade, then when we go to second party we do attractions. We just love all the decorations and holiday mood during party. We have a great time and think it is worth the extra dollars.:D

Last December was our first experience with MVMCP. I pre-purchased tickets for a Tuesday evening. We went and had a blast. This kids loved it -- there was hardly any line. DS3 was able to ride Dumbo without exiting. It was so magical. He thought his little arm controlled the ride taking off. We had a blast.

So much so, that the next day we purchased tickets for Thursday night. The crowd was much heavier than the previous event. Not so much that it was overbearing but we did have to wait in line for several attractions (Peter Pan, Buzz Lightyear come to mind). We did ride Aladdin many times in a row, again without exiting and had a wonderful experience on the Jungle Cruise.

All and all, each night was different from the other. I don't think there is ever a possibility of repeating the magic at WDW. I would do it again if the opprotunity presents itself. This year we are trying MNSSHP for the 1st time and hope to have half as much fun.
