MVMCP/MNSSHP ECV availability

Does anyone have a sense for whether ECVs are available for rent on the party nights? We doing MVMCP on a Tuesday night and my dad will probably need an ECV. He had foot surgery on Friday and will be somewhat mobile. He doesn't want an ECV for the whole trip, just park touring.

Has anyone been able to rent an ECV at that time of day? Any tips or strategies?

Will the fact that its a Tuesday party make any difference?

If we rented one in the am at MK, could we park it somewhere and come back for it in the evening?

We spent several days down in WDW at the beginning of October and will tell you. If he thinks he wants one for park touring, convince him to rent one from one of the several off-site vendors (see the disABILITIES board for more information about the various companies) for the entire trip.

I don't know which resort you're going to be staying at, but we were staying at the Beach Club (LOVE that one, you can see several postings about it by me in the Resorts forum). BC is a large resort, as many of them are, and the ECV that I rented made a HUGE difference. It really meant the difference between zipping downstairs for something and having to tell my wife (we were on our hunnymoon) go ahead, I'll wait for you.

Not just that, but you will DEFINITELY be wanting one for touring the parks, and depending on what transportation you're using between the parks and your resort, you may well find that he needs/wants one to get him from the pickup/drop off point TO the park. They won't allow the ECVs from Disney to go past the gate, nor will they allow one to be put on hold or left "abandoned" for several hours until the guest picks it up again.

The off-site ECVs are also MUCH better than the Disney ones. More powerful, easier to drive, and its ALWAYS there when you need/want it.

If you've got any questions, ask away or PM me if you'd prefer. Without a doubt, doing an ECV when you need one, and getting from off-site (you'll even pay less normally for an off-site one than you will from Disney!) is a VERY smart move!
