Hey there! I've done both Friday and Sunday MVMCP's before. And I know Sunday is probably less crowded, but I'm considering Friday night this year. Help me decide.

I've got a group arriving on Friday during the day. We won't be going into a Park during the day because of arrivals and checkins, etc. Most of this group has never been to WDW.

Here's my thinking:

Going to MVMCP on Friday is a great way to kick off our trip. Gets us to Magic Kingdom right away and to a festive event to get us in the spirit.

Going on Friday also gives us another day in a Park without having to buy a 5 day hopper. My group can buy 4 days instead and still get to a Park on Friday.

Going on Friday frees up Sunday night for other nighttime activities.

Cons of Friday night are:

It's more crowded, and it's a bit hectic getting checked into our Grand Villa since they are never ready until 4 p.m.

If we don't do Friday night MVMCP, we will probably do 1900 Park Fare dinner and view the fireworks from Contemporary or go to Downtown Disney.

What do you guys think???? Thanks in advance!

Consider the dynamics of your group. Would they have the energy for MVMCP the first day or would they prefer something more low key?

Personally, I would want the immediate excitement of the party. But if my parents were with me, I'd opt for a later date after they've acclimated. 1900 Park Fare is a very nice way to begin the trip. The campfire/sing-along/movie with Chip n' Dale would also be fun for the group at some point, and it's free!

Good luck in your planning!

Thanks Fridye! I appreciate the input and suggestions.

The purpose of the trip is centered around some kids who have won a competition, so I definitely think the excitement level will be there. There will be 14-16 in our group.

Any other opinions?

Hi Lorileer:wave: looks like we will be in WDW at the same time:D We are also arriving on a Friday (12/3), but I opted to do MVMCP on Sunday, 12/5 because I figured we would be too wiped out from traveling to last the entire evening, and the crowds might be lighter on the 5th. we're doing a nice dinner (California Grill) on our arrival day, and if we still have any energy left we'll go over to Epcot. Otherwise we'll do a tour of the decorations at the monorail resorts ( we're staying at the CR). There's just me and my son to think about on this trip, so with a large group you have more to deal with, but I think planning is half the fun!

On a Friday which will most likely a sold out MVMCP.In my opinion may not be the best way to start your WDW experience.Long ques may prevent you from doing some attractions and not get very good seats for live shows, parade or fireworks.I say go Sunday for a better experience. We've been over 30 times since 1992 on different days. Our fun meter was on bottom of the fun scale on Fridays. On the other hand Tuesday,Thursday and Sunday MVMCP our fun meters were pegged at the top of scale.Going twice this year on the 7th a Tuesday and 9th a Thurday. All this said, let me say you would still have fun at Friday MVMCP just not as much.Have a magical vacation whatever you decide.::yes:: :wave2:

:D We went on a Sunday last year and just about had MK to ourselves, especially after the first parade. We are going again on a Sunday, 12/5, this year.

From what I've read on these boards is Friday is most crowded because alot of locals go.:D
