MVMCP CAPACITY

Just wondering how the crowds are - assume those with small children may leave after 1st parade.

To me, MVMCP crowds feel "lumpy." Most rides are walk-ons or very minimal waits for the whole party. But then crowds in the hub/Main Street area around show and parade times feel on the very high side, to me at least. Yes, some will leave after the first parade or fireworks, but many don't! But overall, party crowds tend to be very manageable from my perspective.

I find the crowd posts vary depending on your desires:

The "It's way too crowded" camp: They are trying to meet a ton of characters (those lines are super slow), they want to see the first parade right on Main Street (which will be packed), and they stake out a premier spot 30 min early for fireworks. In all of those cases, it will be packed.

The "Crowds are wonderful" camp: This is me. I'll ride rides, which often are walk-on except for 7D. I'll sneak into the hub for an ok spot for fireworks. I'll maybe meet a character if I walk by and the lines are short. I'll watch the second parade in Frontier Land. I'll think the crowds were awesome. Here are a couple of ride pics...

This was my feeling about it as well. It's been a few years since we did the Christmas party, but when we went, main street and the hub were wall to wall people, extremely crowded. The lines for character meets and the areas around the stage shows were packed. The themed rides such as Jungle Cruise had moderate level crowds, and the rest of the park felt almost empty. We even rode a few rides that were so empty they didn't make us get out and go back through the queues. Although, that was toward the end of the night.

The special Christmas entertainment tends to bunch everyone together in the same parts of the park, creating massive crowds in certain areas and almost eerily empty spots in others. If you plan on spending most of your time on the special party entertainment, it will probably feel very crowded to you. If you are going more for the chance to ride rides without the large crowds and long waits, you'll probably find the park enjoyable.

The Halloween party seems different to me. It feels moderately crowded all over. Since the candy locations are spread across the whole park and located at rides, it really fanned the crowd out. I also think more people choose to ride at Halloween parties because if you have bothered to walk all the way across the park to get candy, you're there, you might as well ride.

Thanks for this post.
Going to my first party on Dec. 7th, and this will be my plan. I've even blown the money for the Garden View Dessert Party so I get a good view of the fireworks and castle without staking out a spot...something I never do. Will definitely watch the second parade in Frontier Land, and ride lots of rides. I'm looking forward to it.

I was at the parks last week. I overheard a cast member tell a guest they sell "around 25,000" tickets to the parties.

That number is a little low. My CM friend has performed in the Christmas Parade on the first float, and Managers would always let the CMs know, before the parade stepped off, the number of guests who were in the park that night. It was always in the mid-30,000 range.

I've thought that's about where it's at these days. I think there was a time it was around 25K, perhaps before New Fantasyland opened? I'm pretty sure they don't quote an exact figure because they can increase it any season they want without criticism.

Either figure is low for an average day at the park. But most do not pay the high price for a party ticket to do the same thing they can do on a regular park day (which can be added to many multi day park tickets for $15). So most are there to do the party specific things. That really concentrates the crowd on Main Street and in character meet lines. So if you are one of those people wanting to mostly do rides, it's still a fairly low crowd experience. If you want to see fireworks, shows, parade and characters, even 25 to 30K can seem overwhelming.

Thanks everyone for your responses. Looking forward to MVMCP - it's our last night at WDW. Will probably watch 2nd parad.

For the 2nd parade, there’s usually a lot of room near the Train Station. Not as crowded as Main Street and snow-snoap does fall in that area. Enjoy!

So, the snow is actually soap? That’s what someone told me.

@ols386 ~ yes, micro bubbles. ;)

My CM friend went to a party last week and watched from the train station area and reported a light falling of snoap compared to the amount that falls on Main Street.
