mvf-m11c birthday Live TR at WDW on Dec 10-17, 2010

Hi Bret,
Sounds like you packed a lot into your day! How cold was it at night? We are trying to decide if we need to bring coats next week.

Did your DA like Illuminations?
Enjoying your report! :goodvibes

During the week that I was at WDW, it was in the 30s, now the weather is now in the 50s at night. The weather last night was great and it should be np for u and your family when u r here at WDW since u live in Michigan.

My DA loved illuminations, the Holiday version at the end was great and it was worth seeing.

I think we'll see that the first night we arrive. I didn't realize they did a holiday version. Thanks for being my personal weather man! Enjoy your final day of your trip.

Actually I just left Orlando this morning at 7am eastern time and now I am in Chicago at 9:00 central time. I am about to get on my flight back home to Sacramento shortly. I was considering doing a bump, but the next earliest flight to Sacramento will be 10pm tonight western time. But I will have to go to Dallas and to Sacramento. My DA need to get home immediately so no bump this time.

After illuminations was about to be over, they showed an extended version of the show with more fireworks. I saw on Monday and tuesday and was glad of the extended version after it was brutally chilly that ight around the 30s.

It was np for telling you the weather in Orlando since it was one of the coldest during the month of December.

I'm looking forward to your WDW TR and hope everything goes well for u and your family.

Safe travels out of Chicago. The weather is nasty here this morning in Michigan. Blowing and drifting snow and ice.

My family is super excited for our trip. Our sons just came home from college for break last night. They need to unwind after finals.

I'll be sure to let you know the link to my trip report :thumbsup2 Hope the weather warms up but if not we'll have fun anyway.

Part 1 Dec. 13, 2010

Now its time to go back to my TR for Dec. 13, 2010. This is also one of the days that it would be really cold so we would be prepared to wear extra clothes just in case if it gets to freezing temperatures. Any temperature under 40 for us is cold. We don't get that cold weather back in Sacramento.

It was around 7am and I got up while my DA was still sleeping. We are planning on going to EPCOT for the day to do some of the rides and shows during that day. My DA got up a little late around 8am but we need to be there at least by opening time at 9am. So my DA and I have left the Sheraton Vistana Resort around 8:30am.

We got to EPCOT around 8:50am and we got to walk up straight into the park before the rope drop. But before we went inside EPCOT, I showed my DA my "Leave a Legacy" picture up front. I remember to show her my picture of me and my brother that we did 9 years ago when it was new. She can't believe that we still look the same after all of those years.

5262907234_955f46e42a_b.jpg

After that we got to the rope drop right by the fountain and when it got to 9am, EPCOT is officially open for the day. The first thing we did was head on over to the Land and get FP for Soarin. I don't know why I went over to Soarin and get on since it is the same as DCA but my DA wanted to see the WDW queue of Soarin. When we got our FP we only had to wait until 9:48am.

5262299513_9b4ec24495_b.jpg

Than we head out of the Land instead of waiting in line since it was already at 15 min wait. Our next stop was over to Test Track. It took just a few minutes for us to get to Test Track and there was no line. We only had to wait for only 5 minutes to get on. She really liked the ride and was even better when we didn't have to wait.

5262304019_e5a5f0ea20_b.jpg

We than head on over to Spaceship Earth. It just took about 3 minutes for us to walk over from Test Track to Spaceship Earth. The good thing about it is that we walked on the ride immediately. I remember the ride well back when I was in March/April. But my DA said that it was completely different than back in 2001. I told her that it was updated just awhile ago and is more fun than before.

5262913742_ba6d07cf76_b.jpg

When we got off Spaceship Earth, we went over to the Seas with Nemo and Friends. I told her that this is a opposite version of FNSV at DL where we don't get the submarines but the clam mobiles. But the technology is the same just like the FNSV. It was not even 5 min for us to wait to get on the ride.

5262306301_bf9cf49480_b.jpg

Than it was time to head on back to the Land and get on Soarin. We went into the Land and head on over to the Soarin FP line and used our FP for our return time. When we got in line we were kind of surprise to see the same family that did the tour with us on Saturday. They were surprised to see us and said "what a small world to see you again". When my DA saw the queue it was not impressive as DCA queue. Soarin was just the same as DCA and wasn't surprise about it.

5262917732_5d793abc46_b.jpg

Than we went over to Living with the Land with the same family that we did the tour and got to see the plants and fish. My DA really like all the different type of plants that they grow at the Land.

We head on out of the Land and head on over to Imagination! and rode Journey Into Imagination with Figment. My DA was surprise to see that it is completely different from 9 years ago. There were a few upgrade to the ride since I have seen it a few years ago.

The World Showcase finally opened and we head on over to the Mexico Pavilion and rode the Gran Fiesta Tour. There were quite a few people in line but it was just about a 2 minute wait. The atmosphere of going down the Gran Fiesta Tour is just like the POTC with the Blue Bayou restaurant.

5262921690_ed4927bda0_b.jpg

Our next pavilion was the Norway and we rode the Maelstrom. We only had to wait only 1 minute to get on the ride. The decorations of the Norway pavilion were very nice and the merchandise was also great.

We were about to go to the China pavilion and see Reflections of China, but I told her that we should go to the American pavilion and see "The American Adventure". So we head on over to the American pavilion and just had to wait for 4 minutes until the 12pm "The American Adventure" show.

After the show, it was time to head on over to the Coral Reef for our 12:50pm reservation. When we got to the Coral Reef, there were quite a lot of people who are waiting to get in. We were 3 minutes late, but we only had to wait for only 3 minutes to be seated. The restaurant was even better in person than seeing the pictures online. My neighbor said that I should do this restaurant because of the atmosphere and the fish. When we ordered our food, my DA had the crab cakes and soup while I had the Lobster Ravioli. All the food was great and she told me that it was fine but she didn't want to do it again if we came back.

When we finished lunch, we went back to World Showcase and the first thing we did was go to the Canada pavilion and see O Canada!.

After O Canada!, we head on over to the French pavilion and watch Impressions de France.

5262327457_7177c52b3a_b.jpg

We went over to the Japan pavilion after the France pavilion. We went into the Mitsukoshi store until I saw a friend of mine in Sacramento. I was kind of surprise to see him in Orlando. I talked to him for awhile and asked why he was in Orlando. But it was common that he was on vacation. We bowl together in the leagues. Than he told me to have a great trip and I said the same thing. Than my DA and I went shopping in the store and got a nice purse that my DA liked.

5262936894_12ff3561c7_b.jpg

Than we went over back to the China pavilion and watch "Reflections of China" in the 360 degree room.

After that, it was already 4pm so we headed back to the room and rest up for the 9:30pm Illuminations. When we left it started to get chilly at the park. My DA said that we should bring extra clothes just in case so we won't get cold. We got back to the room around 4:45pm and started to rest up while I am still keep writing my TR.

Part 2 will be up shortly for Dec. 13, 2010 at EPCOT.

Bret, your TR and pictures are making me miss WDW. I just love your pictures. The only thing odd about them are the guests are in coats and hats! :lmao:

I just love this picture:

Thx Liza. I still got a lot to do ever since I got back home today. I'm still posting all my pics and just uploaded HP World. I also got to upload my videos to my youtube. When I wrote on my TR is that it was cold from Sunday to Wednesday during my trip. Now it is in the 70s/50s today.

Part 2 Dec. 13, 2010

When it was time to head on back to EPCOT it was around 7:30pm. We left the resort and got to the park at 8:00pm. This was very early for us since my DA wanted to wait until later but I wanted to get a good spot for Illuminations. When we got in the park, it got really windy and now it was starting to feel really cold. But we went straight in and I was planning on getting my spot by the two stores by the World Showcase lagoon, but I remember that the CP dinner reservation guests get the viewing area. So we went around over to the American pavilion.

5269836158_9efc6da154_b.jpg

We got to the American pavilion and it was not even close to the time for Illuminations, so she went in American pavilion and waited until it was time for the show. I watch the 8pm CP in the back side and I was very impressed with the show.

When the CP was over I got my DA from the American pavilion and got a spot by the Italy pavilion railing for the 9:30pm Illuminations. The good thing about it is that we only had to wait 15 minutes until the show started. It was really windy and cold that day that there was not too many people. Looks like the cold and windy night made the guests to leave early instead of watching it. The show started at 9:30pm and the Holiday version of Illuminations at the end was great. I also watch it tonight just by myself since my DA didn't want to go out since it was cold.

Than we head on out of EPCOT, but before we left, I want to stop at the Mouse Gear store and get the Illuminations CD so I can edit the music with my video camera if the music is bad when I videotaped it.

We head on out of the park around 10:15 and head straight on back to the resort and called it for the night.

That was a really crazy day with the cold weather. But we got to do all of the rides and shows that we wanted to do at EPCOT. We did not do Universe of Energy (we did this ride before), Captain EO (it is already at DL) and Mission" Space since she didn't like intense rides. The day was fun but the weather was just insane. We were crazy to be out there that night but it was nice to see Illuminations.

I will try to post the pictures of this day and MVMCP on Sunday. Thx for reading my TR.

Safe travels out of Chicago. The weather is nasty here this morning in Michigan. Blowing and drifting snow and ice.

Got back safely around 12:30pm. It is really chilly out in Chicago. I believe it is around 12 degrees. Not even friendly out here in Sacramento being 44 degrees and partially raining.

Glad to hear that your family is ready for your trip to WDW.

Thank you for reading my WDW TR and looking forward to your WDW TR. I hope that the weather will be nice to you when you are in Florida.

Here are pictures of "Celebrate the Season" show during MVMCP on Dec. 12, 2010. This was a really windy day. These pictures were from my videocamera that I have taped during MVMCP. I than copy each frame and made it into a pic.

Bret, fabulous pictures. That must have been one good show to watch. I look forward to watching when you post it.

Thx Liza. It was a nice show in front of SB castle during MVMCP. I belived they had three shows of "Celebrate the Season". I am going to upload the show today and I will also upload "Holiday Wishes" fireworks.

Happy belated birthday to you. We were there almost the same days as you 12/9-12/16. My DW birthday is also on the 11th. Maybe we will pop up in each others pictures along the way...

It is time to write me TR for Wednesday Dec 15, 201 which means is the day that I go to Universal Orlando and see the Wizardy World of Harry Potter. This is something my DA wanted to see after we left Sacramento for our WDW trip.

First thing in the morning we didn't get up around 9am and Universal Orlando was already opened. But I was still exhausted from EPCOT on Tuesday night since It was cold and got out of the park after 10. So when we got up and got everything ready, we left the resort around 9:30am and now on our way to Universal Studios.

We got to the resort around 10am and when ergot to the Universal Orlando parking lot, the fees were way higher than WDW at $15. We parked in the jaw section on the 2nd floor and walked out of the parking lot and walked though the walkway towards CityWalk. It was nice to see CityWalk and it hasn't change ever since I was at Universal Studios back in 2001.

Than we walked to Universal Orlando Island of Adventure. We only had one day tickets to the park and we did not planned to go to Universal Studios park that day. We also got a free ticket to the park that day since my DA had done a presentation on Sunday morning. For participating the presentation that day, the Sheraton Vistana Resort gave my DA a free ticket to Universal Studios.

The first thing we did was walk over to Wizardy World of Harry Potter. But first we through Seuss Landing with the Holiday decorations. The holiday decorations at Seuss Landing is just like Toon Town at DL & WDW since everything is so cartoony around the land. It was neat and interesting.

Than we past the Lost Continent and than we got to see the Wizardy World of Harry Potter. It was so amazing, the details on each of the buildings were great and I like the Hogwarts Express engine the most.

We than head on over to ride on Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride. I remember that you have to put your loose bags in the locker since the ride vehicles don't have compartments. My DA and I put our bags away in the locker and rode the ride. The ride was amazing and we only had to wait 25 minutes to get on the ride.

Than we did our shopping at the store and I was kind of surprise that the store was so small and it was like we were walking down MS when the fireworks are over. We bought a lot of merchandise at the store. My DA bought a lanyard and t-shirt while I bought two scarfs, two shirts and a few pins. Than outside we went to the wand cart and I was bout to buy a wand but I choose to buy a collar shirt right next to the wand cart.

Than we went over to get butterbeer. We bought three cups and they were not cheap. Buying the butterbeer with the collectible mug was $10.50 and buying a regular plastic cup was only $3.50. Talk about a big difference in price for getting a collectible mug.

Than we just went around IoA and didn't go on any rides after that.

We left the park around 1:30pm and before we left, we went to NBA City and have lunch. I was planning on going to NBA City on Tuesday for the Kings vs. Hornets but my DA was tired that night and I went to EPCOT to see Illuminations. She had the turkey burger while I had a hamburger.

Than it was time to go back to the resort and rest up. But we walked around CityWalk and saw Universal Studios Orlando and some other stores.

Later during the day, my DA did not want to go to WDW so I went back to WDW that night. I was planning on going to the MK so I can see DEP and Wishes. I also canceled my reservation at the Plaza restaurant. I didn't feel bad of not eating at the Plaza, it was just like standard counter service restaurant at the park. I left the resort around 4pm that night and got to the TTC around 4:20pm.

I took the monorail to the MK and got into the park around 4:50pm there were a lot of guests trying to get to the park. The park was crowded as expected and the first thing I did was get a curb side spot for the DEP. I was planning on getting a spot tight by the Christmas tree, but there were a few families right by the tree so I just went to go to my favorite spot for the fireworks by Casey's Corner. I got a spot around 5:15pm since I need to go go to the restaurant and get something to eat so I ate at Casey's Corner and had the hot dog meal.

I waited for the DEP and it was about to start until a family came about 10 minutes before the show started and forced their way into another family. The family that was waiting for the spot were irate and told them that they saved that spot for their family. Then they left the area, but I know that they were mad. They should understand that if you want a good spot for the fireworks or parades, you have to put in the time to save a spot. You can't just walk up and expect the people who save the spots for their families to move over and fit another family in the spot.

The DEP started at 7pm and it came from the MS instead of Frontierland. I had set up my camera for the Frontierland side and have to change it. Than when I was about to turn my camera, a little girl right behind me with her family came up and was now on the left side of my videocamera. I let her sit there and told her not to bump or make a lot of noise. She said that she won't but when the parade came by, she was talking loudly and bumped my videocamera a couple of times during the show. The DEP was great to watch and I missed the show at DCA.

When the parade was over it was time for the fireworks. I stayed in the same spot for the fireworks. It is always great to watch Wishes fireworks. The fireworks stared at 8pm and the whole area of MS w full.

Than Wishes was over and it was time to leave the park. But I waited 15 minutes after the fireworks since all the guests will be leaving at the same time. when it was around 8:30pm it was time to leave the park.

Here is the interesting part of that night. When I left the MK, the lines for the monorail express line was already towards the security gate and the resort line was already towards the docks of the Grand Floridian. The ferry was already long, bust wanted to go on the monorail and I always go on the resort line after the MK closed. But here is the interesting part, I didn't leave the MK monorail station at 9:45pm. The problem is that a couple of the monorails were not running properly and they had to take one of the monorails on the express line. A lot of the people around me were getting restless and wanted to go to the TTC or the hotels.

I didn't get to the TTC around 10:15pm and left the parking lot and got back to the resort around 10:30pm. Than I took a shower and went straight to bed so my DA and I will be at AK the next day.

It was a fun time at Islands of Adventure for Wizardy World of Harry Potter. That was a really expensive ticket for just one ride at Island of Adventures. We didn't plan on riding any other rides at IoA since we don't like to do intense rides. I can do intense rides but I cant do only a few of them a day. We bought a lot merchandise at IoA more than at the WDW resort. It was also crazy that night that I had to wait a long time to get on the monorail and head back to the TTC. I should have took the ferry instead of the monorail. I know that the mark vi monorails are in service for 20 years and are breaking down. I wonder when the WDW will upgrade the old mark vi to the mark viii?but for the day it was fun.

WOW the Harry Potter area at Universal Studios looks huge! Were you able to walk in any of the buildings or were they just props? Was the ride a roller coaster?

We won't have our own car when we go next week so no IoA for us. Thanks for sharing your great pictures. I feel like I was there.

HP and the Forbidden Journey ride was inside the Hogwarts castle. The long line that we saw at Wizardy World of Harry Potter was Ollivanders Wand Shop. I believe the line was about over an hour wait to get inside the Wand Shop. HPatFJ ride is more like a motion simulator and part of a ride. The cars use a robotic arm to move the vehicle and goes to different areas of the ride.

I'm sorry to hear that you won't go to IoA. But can you take a shuttle or a cab to Universal Orlando. I think it was worth to go see the Wizardy World of Harry Potter. At the cost $70 dollars a ticket it is a very expensive ticket for just one ride at IoA for me and my DA.

Its time to go back to my TR and now is our last full day in Orlando. This is my DA first time to be at the AK. When she went with my family back in 2001, we didn't go to the AK since there wasn't any new rides or spectacular to see back in the old days. The day is Thursday Dec. 16, 2010.

The day was Thursday Dec. 16, 2010 and my DA and I got up around 8am that morning. This was our last full day in Orlando and wanted to get as much done as we can before we leave first thing in the morning on Friday. So we got our bags all packed up and left the Sheraton Vistana Resort around 8:30am.

We got to the AK parking lot around 9:00am just a few minutes until the park opened. it was not as bad I have thought since on touringplans.com showed it to one be a level one crowd day on Thursday.

We just walked up from the parking lot instead of taking the tram since it was quicker. Than we got to the main gate around 9:05am and the first thing we plan on doing was KS. We weren't planning on going on EE since my DA does not like roller coasters. There was another Christmas Tree outside the main entrance just like DHS. While MK and EPCOT had there trees inside the park.

When we walked in the park and through Oasis Land, we got to see the Tree of Life in Discovery Island. The tree everytime I look at it is very interesting with the animal carvings in the tree.

Than we went up towards the Africa area and went on to ride KS. The good thing about riding on KS was that we only had to wait for only less than 5 minutes to get on the ride while it was still early in the morning.

Than after KS, it was time to go see the first show of Finding Nemo - The Musical at 10:30am. So we walked out of the Africa land and went back towards Discovery Island and than towards DinoLand USA and than walked straight over to the FNtM and there was barely any people for the first show. I would say that the building was 3/4 full.

After the show, we went back to DinoLand USA and went to Dinosaur and got FP for Dinosaur. Than we walked towards EE and see how long the line was. It was not bad for around 11:15 with only a 30 minute line and getting a FP for EE was already at 1:00pm.

Than we went to Camp Minnie-Mickey for the Festival of the Lion King at 12:00pm. We only had to wait around 10 minutes in the line for FotLK and had great seats for the show.

After FotLK was over, we head on back over to DinoLand USA and use our FP for Dinosaur. We just walked on the ride with np and my DA said that Dinosaur was a little bit rougher and faster than Indy at DL. But she really liked the ride.

We than went back to Africa land and got on board the Wildlife Express Train. She wanted to ride the train and wanted to see the backstage of AK. She really like the backstage of AK and seeing how they treat the animals in the whole park.

Than we went to the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail and she wanted to see the gorillas. We walked through PFET and got to see the different animals. She really like the end of it to see all those gorillas.

It was time for us to leave the park but before we headed on out we stopped at the Island Mercantile store and bought some more merchandise for friends and families.

After we finished shopping, we left the park around 2:00pm.

I will write and post more pics later.
