How do they decide where your muster station is? And is there any way I can arrange to be sat somewhere with an option to sit down? With the arthritis in my hips and knees standing for long periods of time is extremely painful.

there are a couple of threads on here separated by ship class that have a key to most every room and what muster station they report to. The very front of the ship normally reports to the Walt Disney theater.

A call to DCL would probably give you a more authoritative and definitive answer than any response you get here.

I haven't ever seen any type of option unless you are assigned to meet in the theater or one of the MDRs. I'm sorry to say that if you are assigned outside, you can be standing for quite a while. It seems like there is always one missing family that we've had to wait for.

If you are assigned a cabin that has muster station inside it is the only way to insure you are seated during the drill. There are some outside storage boxes near where people line up for the drill outside but not sure if they would let you sit there. 20 minutes tops is what you can expect to stand for drill....less if you arrive right before drill starts.

We have had our Muster station in the Tube before as well as Animators, Walt Disney Theater and Buena Vista theater.

I've found the muster stations listed in the two threads linked to by FigmentSpark to be very reliable. As mentioned, the only way to ensure a place to sit is to book a room that has an indoor muster station, like the Walt Disney Theater, and then not arrive at the last minute. From what I've experienced, there isn't enough seating for everyone assigned to that muster station so if you arrive late, you will likely be standing against a wall.

Muster station are not assigned to individuals but to staterooms and do not change. The muster station is printed on the back of the stateroom door.

If you cannot attend for specific physical reasons, you need to call special services and you might be able to attend a private meet at GS instead.

My room isn't listed here - but an educated guess says we'll be outside...
You would think that they would put Concierge in the position to be seated, but *shrug
Not sure what to do - there is no way I can stand in one place for that long without being in a lot of pain - if I could walk around that would help... but for some reason, standing is harder than walking.

Not sure how up to date these are, but the Muster stations don't change. Check for your room number and see if it's a problem for you.

I just got off the phone with DCL on this same issue. Per the DCL rep, First if you give them the stateroom number they can tell you what letter your muster station will be. You can google that location after and see where it is. She also told me to go to the muster station about 10 minutes before they call the drill and check in with the Team Leader, they will let the person who has the issues leave but one member of the stateroom must stay for the drill. Hope that helps.

Muster stations are assigned to be easily accessible in case of an emergency, not for convenience of the guests during the drill. On Magic/Wonder, the concierge rooms are spread across deck 8, so their muster stations are the same as the one for the next-door, non-Concierge rooms.

On Dream/Fantasy, since all the Concierge rooms are forward, they all have the same stations in the Walt Disney theatre.

The DCL dude podcast touched on that issue recently. The interviewed guest’s family was assured that they could do that, but they received a letter the next day requiring them to go to Guests services for a private safety briefing. It is the same process that is followed if you board the ship after the drill.

On the dcl blog website, Scott has a comprehensive list of the staterooms by ship and included is the muster station. Under 'cruise planning' then 'stateroom explorer and reviews' to 'stateroom list'. Check it out. If the muster station doesn't support your health, give the DCL phone line a call to arrange alternate muster. You can't be the only person out there with a legitimate health reason to arrange for an alternate muster.

Totally understandable. My mom was the same way. She couldn't stand in lines, but could walk around fine, so people thought she was faking. But it turned out what she thought was arthritis in her back (which she also has) was a tumor growing on her spine, as she has (now) been diagnosed with Multiple Myloma.

Anyway, long and short, I get it. And worse, sometimes people look at you and don't believe you because you're able to walk.

Not to pick a fight, but stations are chosen by expedited evacuation plans, not by what "Level" of room you are sailing in. Concierge, Inside, Verandah, Oceanview. The lifeboats aren't seated according to class either if that's what you're worried about...

I am the same way. Standing in one spot absolutely kills me. On most of my cruises (Magic/Wonder) we arrive early and can sit on the boxes that they have around the promenade deck (we always speak to the Assembly leader to let them know it is a mobility issue, not a laziness issue). If we do that, they do allow us to sit through the drill - but know there will be people lined up in front of you. They also give us the option to leave a few minutes early but we find that just gives us enough time to be in the middle of the next assembly station crowd where you are then standing in crowds trying to get through to stairs or elevator that are hopelessly crowded. So we just wait out the crowds because we aren't in a rush.

Now on our recent Fantasy cruise, we could not sit on the few boxes they have around the Promenade deck because they use them to pile up the cushions from the deck chairs. We were standing still for 1/2 hour on the first cruise and I was in pain for the remainder of the night and the whole next day because of it. I tried to find a solution on the second cruise (we were back to back) but the Assembly leader just said they could let us go a couple minutes early. I was able to lean against the back wall and that helped a little (I was just in pain the rest of that day, not into the next day), we were standing for about 20 minutes. Next time I may check with Guest Services for a wheelchair to use during the drill. I know I'll get looks from people but they don't really understand that standing still can cause tremendous pain.

Do they have wheelchairs on board?
I know I could rent an ECV but I hate to do that when I know I won't use it much on board. we'll be on the Wonder and if need be walking from place to place you can always find a moment to sit down.
