Must You Vacation Same Week Every Year?

DH is a HS teacher, and I work in the Counseling Center at a State College (12 months). Because we're in New England we have been able to use our Feb and April vacations for certain trips. This year April is the opening weekend of Flower and Garden, and well after Easter. We've also been at 3 Christmas seasons, and one Easter (April that year). We have been in August, too. I have really enjoyed the conference that brings me to Orlando in October/November. Twice DH took Personal Days and was able to enjoy MNSSHP with me.

It was buying that first AP, getting room discounts, and cheap SWA fares that turned us into more frequent visitors.

we do not have the complete flexibility to travel whenever we want, but we do have two or three different "slots" we can travel in during a given year (academic), so I voted for flexibility. I think there is somewhere in between complete flexibility and being locked in to one specific week.

We are flexible and that's why DVC works so well for us. It might be high season one time we go and low season the next. I love the fexability offered by DVC.

We have favorite times to go, but can go pretty much whenever we please. We have been to WDW during 10 of the 12 months.

We can travel any time of the year. We prefer going in the off season to beat the heat/crowds. With young kids this is critical for us . We like the beginning of Dec best. Now that DVC is offering the discounted PAP we probably will stagger our vacations by a few weeks to use the PAP twice in a calendar year. Like go in Dec and then go again in Nov(not Thanksgiving) to use the passes twice. I'd even try Oct for the Halloween party but I'm afraid it will be too hot! My kids have a week of teacher conferences in the beginning of NOV with 1/2 days the whole week. As they get older, we may do that. They have it again in April but, that might be a little too hot and too crowded for us. We went the last week of March once and it was really crowded. This was pre-fastpass also. Of course we also didn't have kids then, which made it easier.
We are lucky that DH has a lot of vacation and can arrange or change it however he wants. I know some people don't have that option.

We can vacation pretty much when we want to. I have a new position at work that does have some restrictions on the time of each month that I can be out of the office. But it shouldn't be too much trouble working around that. I noticed that 10 people have voted that they must vacation the same week each year. I just wondered what their circumstances are that they can only vacation that one week each year. I think that I would go insane if I could only take 1 week a year and it had to be the same week every year. I would love to know who they work for, so I can avoid sending my resume to those places. Years ago I was a high school math teacher and had more restrictions on the time of year that we could vacation, but nothing to that extent.

We pretty much go the same two weeks each year:

First week of June. Kids are out of school before the summer crowds, and points are lower. I suppose we could go later in the summer, but I don't see why we'd subject ourselves to higher points, hotter weather, and larger crowds.

Thanksgiving week... like RIGHT NOW! This has become our family TG tradition.
