We are leaving this Saturday (5/29) for our first family visit to Disney. I went w/7 other ladies (travel agents) 9/01 (1 week before WTC attack!). We have 3 girls ages 12, 7 and 4. Hubby and the girls have never been to Disney. I missed seeing Fantasmic and the parades when we went in 01. W/5 days what are the 2 main things you would not miss under any circumstances in each park? For me I could not miss Tower of Terror and Rock n roller coaster at MGM, Splash Mtn at MK, and others. My 12 yr old thinks/acts more like 16, my 7 yr old turns 8 the week we come home (surprise party for her at WDW) and 4 yr old is about the size of a 5 yr old. We are on a very limited budget dispite my TA discounts. Thanks for suggestions and ideas!

I think that you will be able to get in quite a bit in 5 days, that is the amount we went on our first trip and we saw a lot. Okay, here are some things to plan:

at MK
have a mickey ice cream bar, kids love them
your dd at 4 and 7 will probably like running around for a time on Tom Sawyer Island my daughter loved it there at those ages
Splash Mountain
Buzz lightyear is fun for everyone
Spectromagic, the night parade is great for a first timer

at Epcot
Cranium Command
a food treat from Worldshow like Beaver Tails, Kakigoris (like a snow cone) or pretzels from Norway.
The Maelstom ride
kidcot stations and the Chinese Acrobats
Honey I shrunk the Audience

At AK
The Festival of the Lion King
The Safari
characters at Camp Minnie Mickey
Tough to be a bug

At MGM
Little Mermaid Show
The Muppet 3-D
Maybe Tower of Terror if you like thrills
Characters

I would also try to book one character meal, they are a lot of fun and a true Disney experience
