Must see tours?

Hey!

We're taking a trip to WDW this May. We're a young couple (25) and we're a little tight with the budget. We'll stay at a moderate resort, but we're not loaded by any means... This will be our last Disney vacation for at least 4 years as I'm about to start grad school. We've been to WDW twice together for a week each time, and I've been too many times to remember, but we've never done any of the tours! I was thinking maybe we'd do a tour this time so we could do something new. At first glance I found a few that I thought would be really interesting... until I saw the time required and the amount of money. Are any of the tours MUST SEE'S? Are we missing something extra magical? If we're only going for a week, is it worth it to take 5-7 hours out of the day to do a tour instead of rides? If so, which tour would you recommend?

Thanks!

I never did a tour, but we're planning on doing Keys to the Kingdom during our trip in May (we'll be there 5/13-5/20). We've been to WDW many times, and think this would be a nice change, not that the parks are boring, but just something different. I've seen a few posts and I've asked the same question about the tours, and I've heard nothing but good things about this one. We're on a budget also, but I think it will be worth the $58!

DD is finally 16, so we'll be doing the KTTK tour and DS requested the Sedgeway Tour in EPCOT as well. I didn't find either one of these tours to be outrageously priced. We get a discount as Disney VISA holders. The KTTK tour is something like 4 hours including a meal and the Sedgway tour is a bit over 2 so no huge chunk of time in either one. Birnbaum's 2006 guide has a section on special tours; many are quite interesting and 3 - 4 hours average. :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

I think the Epcot segway tour would be great for you as well you get to ride a segway around epcot and it really doesn't take away from park time .This for your age might be very fun.

My faves are Around the world on a Segway at Epcot and the Seas Aqua Tour also at Epcot. You can find more at the Disney site and both offer 20 percent off for AAA and Disney Visa holders. You can do a search on this forum for each too.

I've done backstage all day tour which was very neat and interesting, but took all day and was rather expensive (I went a few days before my family, so it was ok for one person). My DH and DB did Keys to the Kingdom about 5 years ago and really enjoyed it.
We are going late January with a couple who has never been and have Keys to the Kingdom booked and the Segway Tour at Epcot. I would highly recommend the KTTK tour at MK for a very memorable trip ... especially since you may not be going again for a while. Good value and now includes lunch. Behind the scenes at the MK ... awesome!

DB and I :earsboy: did keys and just loved it would highly recommend it.

Dh and I(we are also 24/26) did Keys to the Kingdom at MK and it was great. This is a must do. Try to get Jeff as a tour guide he was great.

I've done the Secrets of the World Showcase Tour, and while it was quite interesting, we were a bit disappointed in our tour guide.

The Segway Tour at Epcot was a lot of fun. The touring part isn't big - they tell you a little about the countries, but not very much - the real fun is getting to ride around on the Segway.

My favourite tour, though, was the Backstage Safari at Animal Kingdom. If you like animals, I highly recommend it. We learned a lot about how Disney looks after the animals and saw (and even patted) an elephant, giraffe and rhino. It was a real highlight for us and I hope to do it again some time.

Another suggestion - if you feel that tours might take too much out of your park time - is to try Dining with an Imagineer. I've done this twice now and LOVE it. You get a great meal and learn lots of "insider secrets" about the parks and get a chance to ask your questions.
