Just a bit of advice to newbies like I was... GO SEE DISNEY DREAMS!! We saw Hercules the first night and...well we all got a nice nap. We thought this must be "cruise theater" meaning, ok, kids may like it, but not much better than the local theater. So, we nearly didn't go see disney dreams on the last night. Boy I'm glad we did!! It seems the whole theater is designed around this show... probably why Hercules sufferes a bit. All I can say is this show is broadway quality with effects, staging, costuming... Unbelievable!!

I agree...Disney Dreams is not to be missed! We have cruised on Disney 26 times and have seen it 27 (we managed to see it twice on one cruise). I don't think we'll ever get tired of that show.

Hehehe! It is so funny how people can have such different opinions! We thought Disney Dreams was sooooooo dull and silly, but we LOVED Hercules!

I know we are in the minority though! :)

Love, Love Love Disney Dreams!!!! But I'm also a big fan of Hercules! I love the energy of it and the fact that it changes to include jokes based on current events etc....

shmoogrrrl: I just have to tell you that I can be having the worst day and I'll see the pic of Katie in your signature and I just have to smile!!! It's just such a happy picture!!
:teeth:

we thought disney dreams was nice....and the singers' voices were spectacular....
but we LOVED hercules....it was hysterically funny...the guy who played hades on our cruise was incredible.....

all 4 of us (husband, me, and two teenagers, 18 and 15) all preferred hercules to DD....

After all the times you've gone, you should know the answer to this question! Is there a particular place in the theater you should sit for the show? I remember someone saying that once upon a time, but forget where or why.

Thanks!

Hercules was THE show not to miss! So funny! We thought Disney Dreams was so-so. The one I actually slept through was Morty the Magnificent.

It just goes to show you that people certainly do have differing tastes...:p

Morty (IMHO) is second rate - way below Disney standards. In fact we told Jim, the cruise director, last December and he said he'd had many comments like ours and they were looking into doing something about it. Well, it's October and we're going again in December and it looks like Morty's still on the bill of fare.

I guess we know which night to go to Palo's on.

IMHO, the show i find to be the least appealing is "Who Wants to be a Mouseketeer". It is just so slow moving and ponderous!

I also LOVED Disney Dreams...it was such a fun show! I had a bit of Bronchitis the first night of the cruise and was in bed right after dinner so I missed Hercules but at least I got to see Disney Dreams!!

Fawn, the best place to sit kind of depends on the sort of experience you want. Tony LOVES sitting right up front. If you have little kids, that might not be ideal because you can see how they do some things (although kids love sitting there anyway). I personally like the middle section where you don't have seats in front of you, just the aisle...only bad thing there is all the people coming in late and blocking your view. But you get a good "wide angle" from there.
I agree with those who love Herc, or at least I did before they removed the monologue by Hades. That was always my all-time favorite part. They have restored a bit of it, but nothing like it used to be. Hades always steals the show!
You have to watch closely for some of the humor...for example, in the middle of one scene, I saw Pain slip briefly onto the stage, look confused, and leave (she wasn't in that scene). I said to hubby, "What was all that about?" He pointed out that one of the characters had made a loud reference to "pain" (something that hurts), and she was responding :jester:

Let me tell you...!! My mother and I have researched this board for well over a year now in anticipation to our cruise. well, the cruise has come and gone, and now I completely understand why everyone on this board is completely ga-ga over DCL...I also want to thank everyone for NOT giving details about disney dreams, because it makes the show that much more special. We saw hercules (which we weren't going to see because none of us in my family enjoy the movie) and I am SO glad we did because I was laughing the whole way through. Hades and Pain and Panic were absolutely hysterical. We left Castaway Cay a little early to beat the rush and saw the Disney Dreams matinee...it starts off slow, but by the end of the show I was crying my eyes out..I thought it was the neatest thing in the world. I dragged my mom and sister back for the last showing and cried all over again. For a cruise, that show is pretty elaborate, let me tell ya!!
