This will be our first trip to WDW with our two boys, ages 1 and 3...wanting it to go as smoothly and magically as possible :wizard:
What are your must pack items?

I'm sure this has been posted a hundred times but I couldn't find a thread...

Thanks!

I had read about people leaving a small gift for their child each night, so they'd wake up in the morning to a Disney gift. Sort of like the toothfairy. Only Tinkerbell or Mickey leaves the gift. ;)

So I went to the Dollar Tree and got some great disney items. A mickey puzzle, pooh silly putty, tigger wall-climber, pooh yoyou, cars plastic puzzle, etc. Each night we'll stick one under ds's pillow so that when he wakes up, he has a prize.

Plus, getting them at the dollar store before we leave cuts way down on the cost of buying a disney trinket every single day. kwim?

We leave the day after tomorrow essentials that I packed
sunscreen
mister fans
backpacks
stainless steel water bottles
single packets of koolaid and lemonade
watershoes
clothes obviously
toiletries
extra shoes for everyone
zip lock bags
snacks - goldfish pretzels pop tarts cheezits etc
extra memory card
chargers for phones DS's Ipods, camera and camcorder

Well I know I packed more than that because I have 4 full suitcases but those are the main things off the top of my head.

I suggest you pack a digital thermometer. Should one (or heaven forbid, both) of your children become ill during your visit the only thing sold at the resort shops is the forehead temperature indicator, which isn't even remotely accurate and hard to keep on a cranky, sick child.

OP, since you are traveling with very young children I think a digital thermometer is essential.

I recommend packing the following:

* Sport sunblock (the spray kind goes on quickly and easily, but be sure to apply it where there is no wind. We applied it on a windy day and were burned because most of it blew away before it reached our skin).
* A small first aid kit with digital thermometer and Benadryl-brand single spoon children's antihistamine (works great for you as well, if you find you have allergies to the palms, which pollinate year round in Florida. Also take along your Dr. or pediatrician's phone number, just in case.
* A park back-pack. Take one that is comfortable and has room for everything your family may need throughout the day. Then take turns carrying it or store it in your child's stroller. We prefer the style with a one-arm, padded strap. Be sure it also has waterproof material on the outside or is lined on the inside
* Small zip-lock bags. These come in great for storing wet socks (think water rides), sea shells if you plan to visit the ocean, quarters for laundry facilities or toll roads, snacks, etc...
* 2-3 boxes of non-perishable snacks such as dried fruit, granola bars, nutra-grain bars, etc... they are great for when you need a quick breakfast or a snack while in the parks.
* Your cell phone chargers (#1 item left at home)
* Rain ponchos (if you will be visiting between now and mid October). It rains just about every afternoon during the summer and early fall months. So be prepared, and purchase rain ponchos in advance. These also work great for water rides, when you'd like to cool off, but not be drenched afterward.
* Sun glasses, swimsuits/trunks
* Comfortable walking shoes - Crocs are our favorite park shoe. They are lightweight, anti-microbial and they dry in a flash from water rides or rain.
* Clothing that wicks moisture away from the body, if traveling within the next 3 months. Remember the marathoner's golden rule: Cotton is rotten.

Tips:

Pack your children's clothes (including undies for each day) into large zip lock bags. Write the day of the week on the bag with a sharpie marker and make getting dressed each day a breeze, and fun!

Have your children make their own personalized autograph books instead of buying the pricy ones at Disney. Grab a few blank journals, Disney stickers, and embellishments at the craft store and have fun! Not only will they be personal, but it will get them excited for their vacation!

Have a great time!

I am glad we brought a nightlight for the bathroom!

I wish I had brought a thermometer...my son did get sick
with a fever during the baseball tournament, and we ended
up buying the strip...no help at all IMO...

I agree with the previous posts about thermometer, also pack baby/toddler Tylenol...I always carry neosporin and bandiads.

I never leave without stacking cups...you know the plastic ones they sell. They are toys on the plane, but can also be used as pool or bath toys...

Just my 2 cents worth...
Safe and happy travels to you!

I would suggest Moleskin, it's slightly expensive but well worth it. At the first sight of a blister, put it on the spot of skin. It works great! Last trip was the first time I tried it and I didn't get one blister. I would just cut strips beforehand, because it comes in rolls. However if you do get some, if you go down to the lobby or the giftshop you can borrow scissors and cut it right there.

I skimmed the great lists others posted but I didn't see this great tip I learned from the DS - a power strip. Others had warned there was only one or two empty outlets and having the extra places to plug things in at one time was a god send. Sometimes we each needed to re-charge our cell phones, run a fan at night for white noise and re-charge camera batteries or a razor.

Have a great trip! :cool1:

Tide 2 go Stain Stick! Saved us from many food mishaps!

I second the phone charger (we forgot it once....)

EXTRA PONCHO. If it is raining, and it likely will at some point, you'll want one to cover the stroller. I have gotten the dollar store ones, but have found it worth it to spring for the slightly heavier ones that are sold in camping supplies. They are $3-4 and are bigger, shaped better somehow, and will NOT saturate like the others eventually do.

If you wear glasses/sunglasses, get one of those teeny screwdriver repair kits - they take up no room in your everyday park bag and are invaluable. I can't tell you how many times I've repaired glasses of myself, my travelmates and strangers in line. I actually ran out of screws!!

Gold Bond Ultimate powder.... it's talc free and is AWESOME. When it's hot, about anything can start to chafe - I have a big puff and I give everything a once-over before getting dressed - if I forget, I can really tell the difference.

Antibacterial gel for hands, clean ups.... little pouch of tissues... carabiner clips - can be used to attach things to the stroller, including any purchases you might make, they are SUPER handy.... teeny flashlight (I am always dropping stuff in the darkest part of the park)... good eyedrops - for some reason travelling bakes my eyeballs...

Agree wholeheartedly with the cotton is rotton - especially in socks! - and the stainless water bottles. I saved a fortune in water the last trip using the flavor packets (DO NOT GET DARK COLORED ONES - LEARN FROM ME) and my stainless bottle - the stainless bottles simply do not hold odor and rinse clean.

OH! Glowsticks!!! Get some at the dollar store, or order off ebay... mine got there in my checked luggage wrapped in heavy cardboard which was wrapped in tape (I also check a small knife AND scissors). The kids will LOVE them - and it makes them easy to spot once it gets dark. Heck, YOU will love them - they are just plain fun. Pass them out to other kids... it keeps the kids from begging for those 1 million dollar light up things that are forgotton on the bus on the way back to the room.

That's enough from me. I probably have more. But then, I am the one who always takes everything under the sun, but forgets something critical, like toothpaste!! :)

We have never been to WDW before so I am reading on here all the time and just tonight I saw quite a few people suggest to bring a pop up hamper (dollar store, walgreens) for your dirty clothes if you plan on washing and with little ones I would think your answer would be YES. I dont have little ones but we still plan on doing at least a load and with 4 people that pop up hamper sure sounds great, I already pulled mine out n put it with my stuff to pack pile. :cool1:

I second the idea for moleskin and a night light!
how about room freshener for the bathroom?!?:rolleyes1

What about some medicines - tylenol, kids medicine, ear drops - things your family might need - i have a few of these packed - as I would hate to have to pay the cost in the gift shop for them.

Since you are going with lil ones I would bring stuff to do while waiting in line stuff that will easily fit in a pocket so if you have to move up you can tuck it away but I would also not bring favorite toys go to the dollar store and pick up some cheap easy things that you wont have meltdowns about if it gets lost or dropped remember you cannot bring your stroller in line with you

Distwix,
What do you mean by DO NOT GET DARK COLORED ONES? I just got 2 Sigg bottles in black. What happens? Thanks
