Must not miss attractions

I need some help with planning a short trip to Disney. I have three kids ages 11, 9, and 5 and have one day each to spend at Magic Kingdom, MGM and Epcot. Does anyone have any suggestions of "must see" attractions since we have only a day at each place. We are going in January. Thanks for any help.

my first thought is have you all ever been before? if so, i am sure there are those attractions you will definiitely want to re-visit! those in MK: space mountain, buzz lightyear, peter pan's flight, haunted mansion, big thunder railroad, pirates of the caribbean, the tiki room birds, jungle cruise, splash mountain. MGM--tower of terror, rollnrollercoaster, beauty and the beast stage show, great movie ride, indiana jones stunt show, star tours, muppets in 3-D, and epcot, test track, space(if you all are brave enough!!), honey, i shrunk the audience, the figment ride. in world showcase, the countries are interesting. some have rides or films, some are just walk throughs. we enjoy norway ride. there are kidcots that the 5 year old might enjoy. just an arts/crafts station. be sure to have dessert anytime of the day at the france bakery. hope this helps. have a great trip!

Personally I think there is not much you would want to miss in those parks. The only thing in MK I can think that would be a must not see is the swiss family robinson tree house. If you are going during the slow season you should be able to do most everything. If you are going during busy season try to use fastpass.

Depends on what your children enjoy. You know them better than we do!!!

Do they like thrill rides?

Do they like live stage shows?

Do they like parades / fireworks?

Do they want to meet the Disney characters?

You're not going to get great answers just by asking on a message board with so little info provided. My recommendation: either sit down with them in front of your computer and spend a few minutes browsing Disneyworld.com, or buy a copy of the Birnbaum's WDW vacation guide. The web site now has great info on most of the WDW attractions, which should allow you to highlight the ones that really catch their eyes. If that doesn't work, try the Birnbaum's book. It won't give you as detailed information as you might find in the Unofficial Guide to WDW (which is about 700-800 pages long), but it does give you a colorful overview of the entire park including all of the rides, restaurants, shops, etc.

If you're first timers, one of the best things you can do is get park maps to get a feel for the layout and work out a plan for each day. Be sure to take into consideration which rides have fastpass.
