DH and I are taking my 5 year-old son to Disney in May. We're staying at the POFQ - arriving on a Sunday (around 4 pm) leaving on Friday after breakfas

What are the must dos and what would you skip?

Thanks for the input.

Must do's for MY 5YO boy (of course, everyone is different):

MK
-Meal at Cinderella's Royal Table, preferably breakfast (he just loves princesses), but any chance to see inside of castle
-Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin
-Astro Orbiter
-Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
-Pirates of the Carribean
-Peter Pan's Flight
-Sword in the Stone Ceremony
-SpectroMagic
-Tom Sawyer's Island
add: PhilharMagic (was not there for my 5YO)

AK
-Boneyard Playground
-Legend of the Lion King
-Tarzan Rocks!
-Kilimanjaro Safari

Epcot
-Test Track (unlike him to ride "Thrill Ride" but this one is relatively tame)
-Spaceship Earth
-Universe of Energy
-Belly Dancer in Morocco

Studios
-Muppets 3D
-Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular

Outside Parks
-Hoop Dee Doo Revue
-Chef Mickey's
-Lego Store (DTD)

I tried to put them in his order of preference as I remember it. I wish I could take him back as a 5 year old! Will have to accept he'll be older next time!

I totally agree with iloveeyore.
If you are short on time skip epcot and mgm. Not too much for little ones.

Skip Epcot? No way! ;) My 2yo dd loves it all! I think there is alot for them to see in Epcot, and is a good experience for them too! ::yes::

My 4yo loved Splash MT and Big Thunder Railroad. Those were his two favorites in the MK and he also liked the Fantasyland rides. He liked Test Track at Epcot and Tower of Terror at MGM (a lot of kids might be scared, but he loved the drops).

T&B

My son's must do list (he will be 5 in August) is

Of course meeting all the characters :)

Ice Station Cool
Kali River Rapids.

How could anyone forget Tomorrowland Indy Speedway. My 5yo son LIVES for this ride!!!!

Definitely Buzz Lightyear. We rode it at least 13 times with our DS (5). Also, Mickey and Minnies Houses and Goofy's Barnstormer in Toontown.
Our son also loved dinner at Chef Mickey's, the Star Wars ride at MGM, and everything in the AK. I can't tell you how surprised I was, though, when he just wanted to hang out at the resort, play in the sand and swim. Sometimes they need downtime without all the visual stimulation you get in the parks

First of all--characters, characters, characters. My friend's 5yo couldn't get enough.

He also loved:

Epcot:
Test Track ("It was a blast!")
The Land ride
Journey into your Imagination
Spaceship Earth
Universe of Energy

AK:
Festival of the Lion King
Kilamanjaro Safaris
Flights of Wonder (one of his favorites)
Tarzan Rocks

MGM:
Little Mermaid
Indiana Jones Stunt show
Star Tours (loved it!!!!!!)
Stars and Motor Cars parade
Fantasmic!

MK:
Pirates of the Caribbean
Peter Pan
Haunted Mansion
Mickey's PhilHarmagic
Winnie the Pooh
Buzz Lightyear
Indy cars
Space Mountain (twice!) (we first took him on TTA so he could see what it looked like inside. Once he saw that, he said he'd ride it. And ended up LOVING it!!)
Wishes

Poohbear
:wave2:

i would say definitely Buzz Lightyear: I don't know a little boy that doesn't like that. Also, depending on what he likes, he might love Splash Mountain, POTC, or Haunted Mansion

In MGM, the stunt show should keep him in awe (it worked for my brother!)

Hope this helps!

My DS (5 at the time, now 6) loves:

MK (in order of fanaticism)
Buzz
BTMRR
Indy Speedway
Frontierland Shooting Gallery
Pirates of the Carribean
Philharmagic
Tomorrowland Transit Authority
MK train
Goofy's Barnstormer + the little play area

EPCOT:
Kidcot stations
Spaceship Earth
Test Track
Journey into Imagination
Innoventions Video Games

MGM:
Playhouse Disney
Muppetvision
WWTBAM - Play It
Beauty & the Beast show
HISTK playground

He's not really into AK, so not much there except the Safari.
