HI! I am trying to plan out what restaurants to go to for our upcoming trip. Typically, eat at the same restaurants every trip but this trip we wanted to try new places. I would appreciate to hear what your must do restaurants are and why. Thanks.

Debbie

I was told by my aunt that her and my uncle HAVE to hit Teppan Edo in Epcot and Ohana at the Polynesian Resort at EVERY trip. We booked those two. We really wanted to eat at the castle this time, so we booked that. Hollywood and Vine Fantasmic Dinner Package b/c of the show. We didn't get in last time, so we had to do it this time. We love 50's Prime Time b/c the kids love that my son got busted for having his elbows on the table, and Papa got busted for tattling on him. Boma b/c of viewing the animals at night with the night vision goggles, and Tusker House b/c my hubby and dad love it. We are doing Crystal Palace again, but this time for breakfast to switch it up, and Akershus b/c we love the Princess Procession and such, but the food at lunch wasn't the best. We decided to try it for breakfast also. Sounds like a lot, but we are there for 11 days... We loved the atmosphere of TREX, but it's out of pocket, so you have to really want to go there if you are on the DP. Last time we did Boatwrights, and really liked it. The corn bread is to die for.

I was *not* impressed with Mitsukoshi / Teppan Edo / whatever they call it now, the last time I was there (2006). Hopefully things have changed since then, but in 06 I was far less than impressed.

I'm a huge fan of teppanyaki dining, call me an enthusiast if you will. We have a number of "standard" mainstream places around home as well as a few upscale, individually owned restaurants. I know my Japanese ;)

Our chef was less then outgoing and was clearly a newer chef in this style of cooking. He spent ~5 minutes attempting the Mickey Volcano which he never did get right and this is a pretty basic skill in teppanyaki dining and it really felt like a lifetime. Don't get me wrong, he tried, but he tried to many times, he should have let it go and moved on. It would be like a new Mickey "trying out" new voices, in front of park guests.

The food itself wasn't anything special by any means, my steak and shrimp were both overcooked, as was the rice. I get better at home at the local Benihana which I consider lower end on my teppanyaki scale.

It wasn't all bad though, as it was just my girlfriend and I, we were sat with 6 other guests (another couple and a family of 4). We had a great time chatting about the parks, vacation in general, etc. That was the redeeming factor.

If you're not accustomed to quality teppanyaki style dining, it might be better for you. I guess I expected to much, expecting "Disney quality" and getting more like.. McDonalds quality.. If you are uncomfortable eating around strangers (especially if you will be going just as a couple or a small group of 4), I would avoid it.

I'm sure I'll end up eating there again, simply because I can't resist teppanyaki style dining. gabzee, it looks like I'll be there a few days before you (we're going 5/26-6/4) so I can do a second review to let you know if it has gotten any better ;)

My 2c.

wel as you can gather from my previous posts i adore Animal Kingdom and eating at the Yak & The Yeti stationed in the Asia section.

1) Yak & Yeti (CSR) - it offers wonderful chinease chicken dishes (honey chicken & sweet and sour) with rice and vegetables.

2) Rain Forest Cafe (SDR) - Downtown Disney very tastey food i had the ribs and fries very tastey

3) Sci-Fi Diner (SDR) very good service and good and very wonderful feel of a drive in theatre. the food was to die for and the service was superb

4) T-Rex (SDR) downtown disney offers a new kind of dining experience with a meteor shower every 25 mins or their abouts. the food is superb

5) Caseys Corner (CSR) - Hot Dog mmmmm lol sorry im english we call em hot dogs lol "weenie" lol

6) Cosmic Rays Starlight Cafe (CSR) I like food frm heere but others dont it does burgers and their is an anamatronic alien singer very neil diamond

7) Crystal Palace - character buffet breakfast with pooh and all his friends.

Our must do's are Coral Reef and Crystal Palace (for breakfast, before park opening!).

Our must do's are:

Ohana, why? Because the food is wonderful and all you can eat. We are good eaters and the dessert is the best on property in my opinion. (and I don't like bread pudding...lol)
The atmosphere can be loud when the games are going on but still worth it for the food IMO.

Chef Mickeys. Again we like the food. Yes it is buffet food, but a notch above in my opinion. We go early in the night and everything is very fresh and well stocked. Never had probelms with a mess, overcooked foods.
It can be very loud most of the time, but again I love the atmosphere of the CR and the restaurant is pretty much "open" so the sounds don't linger and bounce off the ceiling.

Hope that was enough description for you.

50s Prime Time Cafe (DHS): We love the food (Especially the fried chicken!) and the nostalgic atmosphere. Gorging on Dad's Big Brownie Sundae while watching Father Knows Best? "Heaven ... I'm in Heaven ..." :goodvibes

Columbia Harbour House (MK): After riding The Haunted Mansion, we must head on over to CHH. The best tuna sandwiches EVER.

We love Ohana for dinner. So much GREAT food. We are going to try Ohana for breakfast in May. We've heard good things about that as well. We enjoys Chef Mickeys as well. My girls love the princess breakfast in Norway. Maybe not the food but the princesses trumped everything that morning for them :)

Sci-Fi diner is a must! The milkshakes are really thick and the burgers etc are so tasty and really filling. The atmosphere there is really good and it's nice seeing old movie clips and the 'car' tables are a nice touch.

Our must do restaurant is Tonys. The atmospere is so nice after a long day of hectic crowds, rides, etc. The food has always been hot and plentiful. The service terrific. Its one we will always go back to! :thumbsup2 [/COLOR]

really loved FF, CG and the steak my wife had at the YSH was one of the best she said she ever had......oh and Jiko's great....one cs that we always do is SS in Epcot.

When we went in 07, we ate twice at Fort Wilderness campground at the buffet. It was good food at a good price. More like comfort type food but you couldn't beat the price. Rainforest Cafe in DTD is good also.

BEST TS meals:

Sanaa - excellent food, fabulous service, gorgeous restaurant, and amazing views of the savanna and all it's animals. I can't express enough how much I love this restaurant!

Le Cellier - I know there are always people saying it's not up to the hype, but visit, after visit, after visit we consistently get excellent food and service.

Kouzzina - a new favorite! The food was just wonderful, we had good service, and it was cool to watch the open kitchen.

San Angel Inn - this place is TOPS for atmosphere. The food has vastly improved and is very good. But in the end, this one always wins strictly for the beautiful setting.

Jiko - quite possibly the best restaurant on all of Disney property. We've eaten here 3 times and every time has been beyond excellent. A very knowledgeable staff that provides great service.

BEST CS meals:

Tangerine Cafe in Morocco - we always go here on every trip. The food is just great.

Columbia Harbour House in MK - really good food and the second floor is always practically empty, even during busy seasons

Japan - really good food and a CS to boot!

Not sure where you're staying but Cape May Cafe in the Beach Club is always a must do for us. Since we usually stay there, it's always our first restaurant the first night there so start off our Disney stay. The buffet is plentiful and if you like shrimp, you won't be disappointed.

The Rose & Crown Pub in England is always a must do on our last night in Disney - we try for 7:30 ADRs so we're there when the fireworks start and we can move to the private viewing area - one year we were able to sit outside for our dinner and go to watch the fireworks show while we enjoyed dessert.

DS loves the Coral Reef and is eager to go back for the Mahi Mahi.

This year we're trying new places too....Teppan Edo, the Wave, Kouzzina, and Ohana's. Hopefully we won't be disappointed :)

Take a bus from any park to Wilderness Lodge and eat at the Whispering Canyon Cafe...Make sure to make an ADR because it is always Crowded!!!
