I bought our tickets from Delta a few months ago for a great deal but of course they are non-transferable, non-refundable. Now, due to severe financial setbacks, we cannot go. Has anyone ever gotten at least a partial refund or anything on these kinds of tickets? We only paid $432 for 4 rt tickets from dfw to mco, but I still hate to be out that much. Please help if you have any info as to what we should do!
Thanks!

I think Delta will issue you vouchers for all...or more likely, part of your cost. We had nonrefundable tickets last trip, and when the price dropped I called anyway and did, in fact get a voucher for the cost of the difference. You may forfeit $50 or so per ticket, tho.

It is very unlikely that you will be able to get a refund unless Delta cancels or significantly changes the times for one of your flights. If they do that, you can just tell them the new flights or whatever flights are available will not work for you and they will issue a complete refund.

Vouchers (even if they would give them to you in this situation) will not help you - they can only be used to book another flight and they are usually only good for a year. Also, I believe that they will charge you $100 per ticket to make a change so you'd probably get four vouchers for $8 each.

Sorry about your situation. Hope Delta cancels one of your flights.

Rules for the non-refundable tickets do vary between airlines. If you haven't already, you may want to check the rules on Delta's web site to make sure what I have said is accuracte for Delta. Good Luck!

I just spoke with a Delta agent this am and explain that I might have to cancel
my April trip and rebook in June. This was a Delta Express flight and she told me tha
I could cancel and they would "save" my money for up to 2 years to rebook, minus the
Delta Express 50.00 charge when I rebook...I dec'd not to cancel and to just change times!
So she rebooked me on an earlier flight out the same day, (the day before would of cost me big bucks!) but no charge to change flight times..Money is really tight here also, I am a single
mom traveling with 2 teens, I told both the kids to really start saving all Christmas and Birthday money given to them as well as babysitting money..We are going to stay ON site
somewhere we can afford. Best of Luck..deb

I don't know if this will help you or not but we had purchased 5 tickets on Delta for a trip from NC to MCO. Then my husband was transferred to TN so we could no longer use the tickets. Our flight was cancelled and they changed us to a different flight. I called them and asked for a refund. I told them we were not happy with the new schedule. I had no problem with them refunding 100% of our money. So if there is any change in your schedule, just tell them you would like a refund. Good luck.

This is the new Delta airlines...eventually your flight will be cancelled or changed and you will be able to get your money back in full. Just wait for it, it will happen (extreme sarcastic voice used!!).

lindaso,
Yes, and all the airlines(except SWA) are following the new model. Delta was undergoing changes before, however, with the all the crap that has been going on and the financial loss to all the airlines, they are making more drastic changes. I think we should all be happy that anyone is flying anywhere at all. Airlines are not a charity, they are a business and they do have expenses and until they can regain their balance we all suffer. It is frustrating, aggrevating, disapointing, but try to be patient, it will most probably pay off.

Hi Gail,

Yes it is aggravating, no question. I just want to take my family on the vacation that we've been planning for a year and a half. We've talked and talked about cancelling it but it always comes down to the fact that we all really want to go!! I hope my new flights stay put!!

Linda
