OK - 2nd question: For those of you who had a Disney DJ, what did you think of them and approx. how much did it cost? I would also LOVE to hear from those of you who used outside DJ's or bands and how much it cost. It is coming to the time of trying to find our music. We want spanish music, 30's and 40's music and your typical dance music, maybe a little hip hop... lots of different types... which is why we are thinking DJ. I would much rather check out DJ's on people's recommendations than just do a cold search on Yahoo. Thanks!! :wizard:

When we got our proposal from our SM, the cost for their DJ was 4,400! I don't know how they are and if we will use them, but that was the price we were given!

 That's an outrageous price!!! I've used DJ's up here in one of the most expensive areas of the country (just outside NYC) and we have never paid more than $1000 for 4 hours!! where does Disney get off charging that much money????? We are allowed to bring in an outside DJ, right? :confused3

We paid $1,500 for our DJ through Disney (1.5 years ago, I dont know what the fee is now, but I would assume its close), who we were pretty unhappy with - but I know 99% of brides have been very happy with the DJ they were assigned too, I think we just got a bit unlucky.

The only time I have seen anyone charged 4,400 for a DJ from Disney is at MGM outside because of the extra power and set up invloved.

If you use an outside DJ, disney does charge you a pretty substantial fee. Also, I think they limit the venues an outside DJ can be used in. I know in ADH an outside DJ was not an option.

We are using Disney's pick for DJ & on my BEO it states $1170 for DJ Pkg. Our reception is at Ariel's. Hope this helps.

good question, i will be going down in 2 weeks for my planning session. it will be interesting to find out what they give me for the price of a disney dj. i will not be wanting the spotlighting so that should bring the dj cost down some but boardwalk does not come with a dance floor like i know ariels does so well have to pay for that too!
I will post more when I get the price from karen!

The reason why ours is so much is because we will be outside! We were definately expecting the 1300 dollars or so to appear on our proposal, so we were completely shocked at the price that came back to us! For the music selection, do they have all sorts of music or do you have to request the type of music you like and they bring only that to the reception?

were using the dj with disney but i was wondering for the girls that have already used a disney dj can you give names who did you have? were you happy with them? i would prefer to make a request. also has anyone brought in the cds for there dj? were really picky with music & have a complete must play list which i have on recorded cds could i bring those & just have the dj play them?

thanks, 50 days to go! :bride:

From my understanding, there is a fee to use an outside DJ. For some reason $700 comes to mind...

I think the charge is so high becuase they include the set-up and beakdown of the dance floor, the spotlighting, and a few other things in there, too.

I think our dj, a disney dj, wasa $1300...we had to use a disney dj because of the location (atlantic dance hall). Overall we were very happy...he was a little needy, which wasn't expected since I had to fill out a thorough form before hand and talked to him both on the phone and right before the event. The thing that irked my parents and is forever captured on video is that he couldn't pronounce my parents (and my old) last name...we wrote it phonetically and confirmed it with him-it's not a hard name-so that was a bit disappointing. But again, overall we were pretty satisfied.

I used a Disney-supplied DJ and was very, very pleased with him.

Shortly before my vow renewal, the DJ who was assigned to my event had left me a phone message at my resort. When we spoke later on that night, he asked me what sort of music I had in mind for my outdoor dance party (it was going to be held underneath the Sorcerer's Hat Icon (click here) inside the Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park). I told him that I wanted all sorts of music to be played, but primarily the kind of music that would make my guests want to get up and dance. I also told him that I wanted at least one musical set that incorporated a "moon" or "moonlight" theme since there was a full moon & lunar eclipse scheduled for the night of my vow renewal. He immediately began rattling off a list of "moon" themed songs, and I knew instantly that he knew exactly what I wanted. I was pleased. I also requested one specific song by name (the same song that I had requested to be played at my Welcome Party at the Grand Floridian). He promised me that he would add that song to my dance party's "special" musical set.

Fast foward to the night of my vow renewal. The "moon" set that my DJ had put together for my party was perfect (and he did play the song that I had requested). I was very, very pleased with how my dance party (click here) turned out.
