We are booked for Music in early Sept. We don't have children & I'm not one to spend much on a room, as long as it's clean & comfortable.

But I'm interested in different points of view as to whether it's worth $1,000 more to upgrade to a moderate (that's the price for the time we are staying, next upg is about $3,000 more which is definitely not worth it to me unless Orlando Bloom is there to greet me in the room). We've only been to Pop & Movies.

The time spent at the room would be mostly dressing & sleeping & me waiting around till my husband gets up, which could be a few hours. At Pop I would take a long walk while waiting for him, so I guess I'll try that at Music also.

The $1,000 would otherwise go to next year's vacation, but my husband thought it'd be nice to upgrade for once.

I am going through this too! I SOOO want to stay at CSR but we have ASMo booked because I knew I could afford to pay off ASMO by my deadline (8/7) but CSR is $1400 more for us (11n, 2 rooms). We plan on spending at least 4 hrs during the day at the hotel PLUS more time after the water parks close at 5. So I will definitely be using the resort pool and such! I do have CSR booked for our anniversary trip... wanting to switch back to the Poly that I did have booked already. But $1400 is a LOT of money. I also have 2n at VWL thanks to a coworker who owns DVC who rented me pts for those 2 nights!

IMO, no, it's not worth it. Music is such a peaceful resort (it seems to attract slightly less kiddies than Movies, Sports, or Pop), especially when compared to Pop or Movies. I just love walking through the Jazz courtyard at night. So lovely!! At a moderate, the rooms are only slightly bigger and you still won't have a balcony and you'll still have a similar walk to the food court, depending on the building you're in of course. Not worth $1,000 IMO. Personally, Music is our favorite resort and we've stayed at our share of moderates and deluxes over the years. My husband prefers the All Stars for their food courts and I love Music because I find it to be very peaceful. Plus, you'll probably be in a brand new refurbished room at Music.

I've never stayed in a Value resort. However ...

I agree, I'd save the $1,000. My wife and I, if we were traveling just the 2 of us, wouldn't spend much time in the room, either.

I think there's a decent difference in room size between the Values and Mods, but for 2 people I really wouldn't care. In addition, it's not like you'd have a balcony to hang out on in the Moderate resorts while your husband sleeps.

I'm the early riser of our clan. I would leave the room around 6:00 a.m., get some breakfast at the food court, then sit somewhere outside and read a book or something like that. I'd have my cellphone with me just in case someone woke up and they needed me, but it was never necessary.

Again, if it was just my wife and me, I couldn't justify spending an extra $1,000 for a slightly larger room, a ceiling fan, covered bus stops, free fridge, more landscaping versus hardscaping, a pool slide, and an on-premises table-service restaurant.

All Star Music is my favorite Disney owned resort. It tends to be a lot quieter and more relaxing than the other values.
More couples stay at All Star Music and the adults usually outnumber the small children.

Dh and I think it is quite peaceful for couples.
We enjoy the lush landscaping( All Star Music has more landscaping and less cement than the other values) and peacefulness of All Star Music.

We enjoy spending some quiet time by the Rose Garden:

We enjoy relaxing by the pool (there are plenty of chairs and lounges), and the beautiful lighting at the resort by night.

All Star Music is undergoing a refurbishment of all of the rooms and is slated to be completed by June 2007.
The Calypso and Jazz buildings are completed and the last I heard they are working on the Broadway Buildings.

Here is a website with photos of the newly refurbished rooms at All Star Music.

Look at the Jazz Inn section with new posted:

Have fun at Disney!:wizard:

With the newly refurbished rooms at the Music, I'd probably choose that one.

I do not think $1000 is worth it to upgrade. We usually stay moderate, but it's only for 5 nights. This year we decided to squeeze in a second trip for Mother's Day and stayed ASMu. I have to say I was disappointed at first after only staying in moderates. However, by the end of the stay I did find some things I liked about it: the price being number one!!!! I also really enjoyed the piano pool (the quiet one). I originally reserved a preferred room but did not get it when we checked in (they were out:confused3 isn't that what a RESERVATION is for...)anyway I wound up being REALLY, REALLY happy that we were NOT in the calypso building. We were in Rock and it was just so much quieter over there. The grounds were very clean and the room was immaculate (although it had not been redone yet). The food court was also very clean the service was very fast. The main complaint I had about this resort was the busses. They were so slow to show up and always over crowded. If I were to stay value again I would definitely rent a car!

Would I pay an extra $1000 for a hotel. Heck no! That's why I've never stayed deluxe!!!

Well, I'm going to be the minority opinion, I guess, when I say it is soooo worth it to upgrade! And this is coming from a self-described cheapskate. One time, I decided to save money on a solo trip and stay at All-Star Music, instead of my usual resort, POR. All week, I walked around shaking my head and saying to myself "I hope you're happy now, this is what you get for being so cheap". I hated it, I couldn't believe how much smaller and "cheaper" than POR it was. For me, upgrade! FWIW, I did stay at a deluxe once and felt the extra money wasn't worth it so we went back to POR and POFQ. But no more values.

Thanks for all of your well thought out answers and pictures. I appreciate the input. I had originally chosen Pop, but it sounds like Music will be really nice if we decide to stay there.

I would probably save the money as well. We have stayed in both Music and all the moderates. While the moderates were nicer, if all you are looking for is a room to sleep in then the the values are fine.

Overall, I would say it is not worth it, BUT if you really like to swim, you should consider it. The values pools, even the "quiet" ones are much more crowded than the numerous pools at the moderates. They also don't have a deep end and I enjoy treading water without fear of scraping my toe knuckles.

Otherwise, not worth it , espeically if the resort is Music which I find to be quieter than the others.

We stayed at POFQ with the kids during free dining last year and loved it. To save money during our adult only marathon trip just two months later we decided to say at All Stars Music. I really did not like it there but I think it's okay without kids. The travel distance from the country section to the food court was really far but without kids it's not a problem. We are staying at POFQ again during August and then we think we will try Pop for the marathon. So in the end I say save the 1k for next year's trip.
