Do you ever hear a song on the radio that just screams Universal studios when you hear it? For me, it's"ghostbusters", or "back in time", and the one that really sends me Universal flashbacks is "Higher Ground" by the Red hot Chili peppers. (people keep on running...) I always think of the Monster cafe (sigh) when I hear that or Madonnas "I feel like I just got home.." or "Feed my Frankenstein" &"Time warp" also, Lenny Kravitz "I want to fly away", "Summer breeze", or even Nirvanas "teen spirit" or "Kryptonite"

So, what songs makes you think of Universal studios when you hear it?
Linda

Here come the men in black....by Will Smith.

Definitely, and "Hey now, your an all star" for Shrek!!!!!!

Definitely any of the songs from the Ghostbusters Show. When evacuating from Hurricane Charley, one radio station played "Ghostbusters Main Theme" then "Material Girl" and "Good Vibrations" dfinitely a Universal moment there! ::yes::

Also, "All Star" (given, that's a GB Show too...lol but also for Shrek), "I'm a Believer" (Smash Mouth's version), "Drops of Jupiter", "Love Shack", "New york, New York", "She Bangs", "Kryptonite", "Express Yourself", "Time Warp", "Smooth", "Thriller"Around the World", "Moulin Rouge"

100.7 here in FL (Tampa Bay area...but I get it down here in Srasota County as well) plays a TON of songs that are played in Universal...they are the same station who palyed the three GB Songs I mentioned at the beginning of the post. :smooth:

Goodness, how could I forget All Star or Men in black! I have those on CDs that I play in my car all the time.

"The good guys dress in black remember that...."

I have to admit that there are 2 songs that I absolutly cannot stand. first, that Moulin Rouge song, and another country song by Buck Owens (how did I know that) something about putting him in the movies and acting naturally. ugh, don't like that one! :p Linda

Fly fly, loved your Ghostbuster photos! :D

Thanks Metallicat!! :)

Yeah...that song is called "Act Naturally" :p :p :p Eh...the songs tend to grow on me after hearing them a bazillion times. It's definitely not a favorite though.

Yep, thats the one. My Mom used to play that alot when I was a kid and I couldn't stand it then either. but, I had my way of getting her back by playing my kiss tapes :p

I notice you have a B'day coming up. any plans at Universal?
I have DD who is 22, and on her 18th B'day I took her to hard rock cafe. they overheard me mention it was her B'day (we were discussing having a slice of cake for the occassion) and they had her stand on a table and everybody in the place sang happy B'day to her. she wouldn't speak to me for 2 hours! :teeth: Linda

Yep...I'll be at Universal for 4-days. :) Staying 2 nights at HRH for the first time (my parents only wanted to stay at RPR, and were worried about HRH being 'too noisy' so it was a nice surprise to find out). On my birthday (the first day of my trip, in fact) I'll be having dinner with one or more of my friends (one friend can't go to Universal b/c she has a dance convention, so she's going to at least meet up for dinner at HRC). After that, the other peoples and I will go to another restaurant or something to "hang" or else maybe we'll go do karaoke somewhere (LOL I've never sang in front of anyone before, so I'm not sure about that one yet! I'm taking voice lessons though to get more comfortable)

You will love HRH. It's a great hotel. very hip and happening. I love hearing the rock music everywhere and the staff are very nice. that is the only hotel I have ever stayed at where they remember me every time I stay there.

Funny you should mention karaoke, my DH loves singing and has a karaoke machine set up and friends come over and sing on the weekends. it's so funny hearing my brother in law trying to sing Patsy Cline songs! :p Linda

Not so much inspired by the actual music at US/IOA, but for the last road trip my wife and I took (all the way from Canada last May) I made a mixed CD themed to the parks. By that, I mean between songs by, say, Outkast, or the White Stripes, I put snippets of dialogue from movies (Twister, MIB, Back to the Future, etc.), or even from the rides themselves. This included part of the ride instructions for Dr. Doom, and my favorite - some of the actual live Captain's spiel from Jaws (You can call off the Marines - we're coming home!!) ...

I downloaded the version of "Surrender" (by Less Than Jake) that was in the Universal ad. I don't know if they're still using the ad, but I love to crank up "Surrender" and think about my next vacation!

snoozn

Superstitious by Stevie Wonder (from the boat that takes you back to the Hard Rock Hotel.)
