::MinnieMo I am going to WDW in December I will be staying at the All Star Music resort for the first time. Last year we Stayed at the Contempory and loved it the monarail system was very convienet but my husband wanted to go with the value resort this time and I just wanted to get some opinions on the Music resort.

Music is a lot different than the Contemporary. Music is very basic. You only have the foodcourt for food. You only have the bus system for transportation. We were very happy at Music. Just don't expect to get the same level of service at the Music.

Well, I've stayed at the ASMu and enjoyed it for what it is - a value resort. You're going from end of the chart to the other, so there is no comparison between the Contemporary (Deluxe), and the ASMu (Value). As long as you keep that in mind, you will enjoy it. It's very whimiscal and colorful. Have a great time! ::MinnieMo

As it has been said, don't compare the two, then you will be disappointed. I've stayed at the SoG (A deluxe resort) and I've stayed at the ASMu resort (A value resort), I enjoyed them both equally as well on different aspects. The SoG was HUGE and the hotel, for a military hotel, was unbelievable. The bus system was amazing...you could set your watch by those SoG busses and I've heard that hasn't changed much either. :goodvibes The ASMu resort is so colorful and just so fairytale like if that makes any sense. For the money you pay, it's very well worth it. You'll have fun at the ASMu resort, don't worry about a thing. ENJOY YOUR TRIP!:rotfl:

We just stayed at the All Star Music Resort in August for a week and loved it! Yes, it is a Value Resort but it is very bright, cheerful, and well themed and a lot of fun. THe food court is very good and the cast members were very nice and helpful. Our room was very clean and comfortable. I would defintely stay there again. Have a great trip!

I had previously stayed at the Poly and, with my DS choosing the resort this past trip, stayed at the ASMu in Feb. We loved it.
Bright, Cheery, Whimsical, Childlike atmosphere... What really sold me on the ASMu (besides the great CM's, the incredible bus service, the variety at the Foodcourts, the comfortable beds, the resonable price...) was my DS's reaction when we arrived. He couldn't believe that there was a hotel dedicated to him.. A real Resort for Kids(or Kids at heart like me).
I will suggest that you booked a preferred room at the ASMu as the resort buildings can be very far from the transportation( the monorail is one of the deluxe perks that you may miss).
Have a great time no matter where you decided to stay!

I can't remember exactly, but try to request a room in one of the two buildings closest to the Food Court/Lobby Building. I think ours was called the Calaypso (sp?) building. It is just easier access to the dinning, buses, and gift shop. We walked around the resort the last day of our trip there, and everything just gets farther and farther away, and the bus only stops at the main building. The pool is larger also, and it's easier to get morning coffee or breakfast.

We've also stayed at ASMu and loved it. As others have said, it's quite different from the deluxe hotels, but nevertheless fun and well-themed.

Our advice on buildings--depends on what you want. If you want convenience, then stay in a building near the food court. If you want peace and quiet, as we do, stay in a building far from the action. The walk's a bit longer to the buses, etc. but the noise level is much lower.

Have fun at ASMu!

My dh and I stayed at ASMu last January and, sorry, we were not happy there. For more specific info, read my review (and read all the reviews) in the review section on the board, where you'll see lots of differing opinions.

For a happier stay than we had, I suggest the following: (1) request a room on either the 1st or 3rd floor of whatever bldg you're staying in. Rooms on the 2nd floor are particularly loud. (2) Also, a room with NO connecting door will help cut down on the room-to-room noise. (3) Do NOT stay in Country Fair, which is very very far away from the food court/bus stop, etc.

Another warning: the Pop Warner cheerleaders/football players are in WDW in December (around the 6th-12th, IIRC--check around for the exact dates) and I believe they stay at the All Stars. Someone posted their dates and locations--do a search and you'll find it. You'll want to request a room away from these groups.

A lot of people on the DIS adore ASMu. It all depends on what you need from your resort. If you just use the room as a place to crash and don't spend a lot of time there, it's okay. The room we stayed in was clean and mousekeeping was very good. Bus transportation was excellent. But a deluxe or a mod it isn't.

I can't agree with miffy's statement about Country Fair, the building farthest from the action at ASMu.

If noise is a major issue for a guest, then Country Fair (where we always stay now) is a considerable improvement over closer buildings. Traffic in that area is low and guests are far from the noise of the main areas.

Yes, of course, one has a bit of a walk to the buses, etc., but if that's not a problem (and noise is), then a guest is better off in Country Fair.

I agree with miffy that the first and third floors (away from the stairs) are the quietest.

I agree - Country Fair is very quiet and almost secluded from the rest. This is a really cute themed building. Considering all the walking I do in the parks, I don't mind the walk to the bus stop. It's a good warm up. It's not too bad walking back either :moped:

I think they gave us Country Fair because we requested a quiet room, however, our room was noisy and I was unable to get a full night's sleep during our stay at ASMu. We were on the 2nd floor, which I gather is the worst, and it's possible there was a connecting door to the next room--I didn't think to check on this at the time. Also there was lots of noise from the cement walkways outside the door, which are busy from 7 am onwards. Since we sleep in on vacation, this was a problem. JMHO.

I have stayed at the ASMU many times. The best rooms to me are in the Jazz Building facing the pools but on the first floor at the end furthist from the food court. Sorry I cant remember the number. I always try for this location. This is closet to the Piano pool and much quieter. Just my opinion. This is a wonderful resort and if you want to spend the majority of your time away from the resort than this is a great place. Its only a few bus rides to any resturants in the world so my motto is sleep cheaps and enjoy your xtra funds for treats.

ASMU is great. I have stayed here twice. I have stayed in the Jazz Building once and Country Fair once. Country Fair was incredibly quiet while Jazz was probably the best bet for all concerns. It is closer to the food court. I will be staying at a moderate next trip but not because I have a bad feeling for ASMU. You simply cannot beat the price and the resort is fine. It is typically louder and more vibrant than other resorts. It has more children and youth groups visiting. It is by far the best themed for small children and people taking their chillldren for a first trip are always encouraged by me to take their kids here for that first Disney experience.

I have also stayed at the ASMU twice before...both times in the Calypso building closest to the food court. If you don't ask for a pool side room, I think the court side isjust considered a regular room...even if it is still ask...you'd be surprised at what your able to accomplish with a little friendly chat on check-in.As far as the Football player/cheerleader situation goes, yes they are prevelent at this particular resort...but I think it kind of adds something to the cheery(pardon the pun)atmosphere of the resort. We usually go in Feb/March and regardless if it's not cheerleaders it's Argentinian Girls soccer teams and stuff like that.I find it fun and let's face it if I wanted an adults only, quiet holiday I'd go back to the Dominican.....the reality is,it's WDW and that's why we love it.It's the fun, the electricity in the air,the family stuff, the uniqueness of your setting...it's putting yourself in a place completely unlike the place you've come from...that's why I think the AS's are ideal if that's what your into!!!Have a wonderful time and just keep you perspective...have a blast!!!
