I am trying to decide what type of music we want to have at our wedding reception. We are only having about 30 guests but I would like to have some "fun" at the reception as well. Any suggestions on what type of music to go with. Would a DJ be akward with such a small party? The pre-reception will begin about 4 and dinner and full reception from 5 on. I am planning a Dessert Party at Sago Cay for the Wishes Fireworks.

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions.

We've also got a smaller group (many of which won't dance). We're using the jazz trio from our ceremony for the pre-reception and then switching to an Ipod. All of our music is 1930s jazz and swing since it's our "theme" and we figure it would get more people on the floor than most modern tunes. We originally planned on a DJ, but by the time I downloaded enough music to get a good "I want played" list, I had close to enough hours to cover it myself!

i think relaxing and very unwinding songs are really great. it is so good to hear music that are pleasant to the ear while savouring the moment of your lifetime.

I think 30 is enough for a DJ, if that's what you like. Many have had success with iPod, but you just have to make sure someone mans it. We had the jazz trio and requested a "ragtime" arrangement. They went out of their way to find a clarinetist (doubled on sax), banjo player and bass horn. It was awesome and gave our reception a great "feel."
