Mushrooms.....YECK! How do I get rid of them.....

With all this rain (and of course forgetting to turn off the sprinkler system!!) I just noticed I have mushrooms!!

The landscaping company we use isn't that great when it comes to fertilzing and weeding (I want DH to have them only cut the grass from now on).

Can anyone recommmend some type of anti-fungal to put on the lawn??

Hi Rbuzzotta!

We often get mushrooms growing in the lawn after periods of prolonged wet weather. Most of them are harmless (except for fairy-ring), and will disappear once things dry up, if it ever does...

When back from traveling this week.... drove up to some HUGE MUSHROOMS in the yard... some of the biggest rascals that SSB has ever seen!

Thought of trying to sublet them, but the lawn boy came through, and the rest was history....

Very funny, Side Show B. And welcome to the garden thread!

I get mushrooms occasionally. I always thought it was because I had a lot a organic debris in the lawn, not because of dampness. Guess it's the combination of the two. Anyway, I usually use a little handshovel to pick them up and put in a bag to dispose of. No digging involved. Come loose easily. Or, as SSB says, the lawnmower can do the trick.

out in a shady area. But this year we've found mushrooms that are red and look just like a small lobster/crab claw. Bad thing is when you get near them, they SMELL like bad seafood as well.

Any ideas what this is or how to get rid of them?

I've tried to run a search on your mystery mushrooms but so far, no luck. I've typed in so many variations of red, smelly, lobster/crab claw looking mushroom, now all I get is a page that says "Not You Again!!

Any other Buds have this particular fungi in their yards?
