Muppets 3D - Why did they . . .

I'm copying my follow up post from below back up here since a lot of people think I was asking about something different:

"Yup Pearlie - that's the one I'm talking about. A lot of people here seem to think I was talking about the subtitles that you can see in the theater.

What I'm talking about is in the waiting room with the 6 TV screens with the intro to the attraction there was a small LCD scrolling thing hanging right below the robot with the big eyes that scrolled a countdown to the show with a running commentary that had nothing to do with the TV screen shows. It was almost a bunch of ramblings and funny non-sequitors that if you paid attention was really funny. We were there the last two Octobers - I know it was gone this past October and can't remember if it was already gone the October before that (someone here thinks they saw it in Feb. 04 so I'll assume in was there then and disappeared between then and October.). If you saw the muppet attraction before then and watched the pre-show on the 6 TVs you would have seen it.

So far it seems like I stumped people - was wondering why it's gone!"

Just got back from Disney yesterday and am finally remembering to ask a question I've been meaning to ask for a couple years. Why did they remove the little scrolling text thing-a-ma-jig right under the robot guy hanging in the front center of the room. That thing was always hysterical and had some really funny stuff. I just can't imagine any reason - it should have been really low maintenance - cheap - couldn't cause any problems I could see . . . anyone have any idea why it's gone?

Hmmmmm....I don't know but I have a friend who works at WDW ,I've emailed him as he might know this answer! I'll let you know what he says.

I was there on 1/11/05 I didn't see the scrolling marquee in the front but i did notice one in the back on the oposite side of the "sweedish chef" when i looked at the beginning of the show i think it just said something backwards

I remember the scrolling last Feb 04...I will be interested to hear what happened to that!

The backward scroll text is for the teleprompters for deaf/hearing impaired people. You can see this in the Canada theater and at Timekeeper too.

It sounds like you're talking about 2 different things.

The red scrolling in the back of the theatre is for the reflective captioning for the hard of hearing. My dh took advantage of this when we were in Disney. You alert the CM and they give you a mirror stand, and it grabs the image and you have instant closed captioning just for you reflected. There are now theatres using this (Thanks Saftey Mom for that info btw on Disabilities) Many shows in WDW have this, and if you use closed captioning at home, you should use it at Disney, its wonderful!!

:cheer2: :jumping4: :cheer2:

Yeah, I remember the scrolling thing in the back. They seem to have that at a bunch of attractions now for the hearing impaired. Oh, and the text scroll in the waiting room, which can be almost as fun as Rizzo as Mickey. ;)

I saw the scrolling text thing at DCA, but have never seen at at WDW, which is too bad, because it was hysterical! It had funny little sayings, and occasionally it would broadcast the time left until the show started.

Our favorite little thing it said: K-E-R R U Having Fun Yet? M-I-T Is a University is Massachusets...

It was just so silly, and so Muppets! I really wish they'd put it (back) in at WDW!

That was one of my favorite parts of Muppets 3D, too!! The funniest one I remember was when it scrolled across - "Why are you looking at this? We paid good money for those monitors! Watch them instead!"

We deliberately used to go to Muppets early to watch them so we could spend a long while watching them! They were not there when I went back in November 2003. Disappointing indeed!

I agree Hedge - this was probably the one attraction at all Disney that I actually wanted to make sure to get to so I could see the entire pre-show! There was just so much going on between the monitors and the scolling stuff that it was probably 3-4 trips before I felt like I saw all of it.

Hopefully at somepoint it will come back but I would doubt it since if it's been down this long . . .

I meant to ask a cast member when I was there but kept forgetting.

Though Muppet Vision is our favorite, the other "pre-show" that is arguably more entertaining than the "Show" is Ellen's Energy Adventure". It's basically a bit of a monologue and then the "Jeopardy" sequence that sets the stage. We love that one too, and always find it odd when CMs tell you that you can just catch a "show" about to begin if you hurry, when the pre-show is about to end; we want to see the whole "show."
