For a while now DH and I have been talking about how the Muppets attraction, while classic, is a bit tired.

We then started coming up with ideas on how they could either update the Muppets 3D show or just completely redo the Muppet area with a new ride. We decided that what we would like best is to have a whole new Muppet ride in the same vein as the Great Movie Ride.

Get this. You enter the queue line and the story starts that you are new interns for Muppet Studios. You are going to help them out in running the Muppet Show Tonight. You then get on the cars with a narrating cast member who will "show you the ropes" of working here.

The ride itself will alternate passing through scenes of the show running a dress rehearsal and scenes backstage showing all the mayhem. You can integrate some live actors in with the Muppets (because Muppets do interact with live people all the time). Piggy can order the interns to get her coffee, Kermit can kindly greet the interns and show them love, many Muppets could acknowledge the guests in some funny way.

I honestly think it would be a blast! I mean, who doesn't want to "be a part" or making a "live" Muppets Show Tonight stage program. Plus, I think the mix of live actors and animatronics would work better because the animatronics aren't supposed to look like people. They are Muppets!

What do you think? Is the show tired, or do you still love it?

I love it but I like your idea also. I was thinking they could also do a show that is exactly like the old ones but instead of a guest celebrity a guest character.

I think it is a GREAT idea, and even though I love it, it kinda is old :)

The Muppet Movie Ride is actually a plan they had back when Disney was first trying to acquire the rights to the Muppets, but with Henson's death and the negotiations not working out, all we got was the muppets 3-D.

I would love an update to the Muppet movie. I own all Muppet movies ever made, and I love love love the Muppets, but I think the current blue guy invention of Bunsen honeydew in the current show completely ruins the show, to the point where I haven't bothered to watch in years. Anything that got rid of him would be a major improvement. I love your ride idea.

I love it the way it is. Don't get rid of it, just add another Muppets attraction.

The Star Wars rumors floating around were the true genesis of our discussion. We heard that they might take over the area where the Muppets currently are to put in a Star Wars themed land. That would be a huge shame. We didn't want to see the Muppets disappear.

So we thought, what could make up for getting rid of that attraction? What type of attraction would make it so we could say goodbye to the current one and be excited for something new? This was our solution.

Also, thanks for the votes of support! If only I was an Imagineer! A girl can dream.

I like show and love the venue, (the Muppet Theater!), but the film itself is dated not that good. All they really need to do is run a "Muppet Show" with video and animatronics. They could even randomize which bits one could see to encourage repeat viewings. Use the classic opening song, and follow with random, all new bits and even throw in a few classics (Piiiigs Iiiin Spaaace!). Do say three 3-4 minute bits plus the opening number.

That's all they'd need to do to get me in there as a must do every time!

Ditto.

OP, your idea is super cute.. I love it!

I sure hope they upgrade the Muppet area. The Muppets deserve it! It's so sad to think about what the area could've been. Henson and Disney had so many good plans for that area of the park. :sad1:

I love the idea for a live Muppet show or interaction. I don't think that the existing attraction needs to change the show, but I think all of WDW's projection and 3D/4D attractions are woefully dated technology wise; the 3D in a quality movie theater these days is much better than Muppets or Philharmagic. I wish they could improve the equipment even if the kept the same show.

Yes, and update would be fantastic as long as there is some(or a lot) of Pepe the King Prawn, OK.

I don't love the show. But my kids do. They are Muppet freaks! ::yes:: I think any new ideas are great! :thumbsup2
