Hi everyone,
I remember asking you guys about the mummy before I went last week so I kinda knew what to expect but boy, was I wrong. While I was riding the mummy, I said I would never ride again. But I rode 4 more times during that week. It's truly awesome and addictive. My favorite ride of all :cheer2: .
Just wanted to share that tidbit with everyone.

We had a fabulous time. Actually had more fun here than we did at you know where ;)

How does it compare--ride wise to The Rock and Roll Roller coaster???

thanks!!!!!!!!

It is not as intense as RnR, as it doesn't go upside down. I would compare the coaster part to Spacemountain.

But smoother.

But I really don't like bugs....should I close my eyes during that part???? (or is it "doable".....

(and thanks for the reference--I love spacemountain!!!!--this should be great!!!!)

Just clothes your eyes on that part if your really scared but after u ride it a couple of times it's easier to pay attention to whats going on. Just brace yourself. Oh yeah, in the beggining when after you go through the room with the mummies on the side be sure to brace your neck or u might get whipflash on a sudden stop. well have fun! bye! :earsgirl:

The scarab scene is very short. It starts when you turn a corner and stop hard, and ends a few seconds later when the room goes dark.

Idon't know anyone who has "actually" been scared by the scarabs. Most people go "ooo" and "ahhh." The only thing that gets them is the water that drops there....occasionally....and the sudden backwards drop that isn't bad at all.

If you don't like bugs, you won't like the scarab scene. Just ask flyfly. :rolleyes1

i am a HUGE chicken when it comes to bugs! i can't even tolerate It's Tough to be a Bug at WDW...

does this scarab scene make you feel like they're crawling on you at all? i can close my eyes, but if it feels like they're on me, i can't handle that!

No, which is surprising as it was an effect that people expected to be on the ride. so, if you close your eyes, you'll be ok

When you think about it they should have used an effect like in shrek 4-D to create the sensation that the bugs are crawling around your feet. The only problem that I see with that is that the little wires could get caught on someones shoe and those seats can be hard to bend down in to reach your shoe. Also there could be malfunctions with the timing of the wires making some of the ride not make sense. Air blowing on you could be another option. The first few times that I rode the ride they had dripping water in that seen which gave the feeling of cold bugs crawling on you. Now I only feel that water when we are dropping back onto the turntable or not at all.

PHEW!!!! i love indoor roller-coaster type rides and was afraid i'd have to miss out on this one! but since no bugs will be touching me, i'll just close my eyes!

thank you!!!

wait...shrek has that feeling that things crawl on you? :faint:

This is my favorite ride also... Now I just have to convince my 10 year old to ride it with me :) She almost made it on our last trip, but got scared and waited in the baby swap area.
I guess she was traumatized after we made her ride the Hulk with us; twice... :guilty:
Horrible parents.... ;)

i read that mummy doesn't go upside down - what is the coaster like? are there big drops? does it go around in circles? just wondering how intense it would be for my 60+ y.o. mom. i'll probably go on first & let her know how it was just to be on the safe side. is there just a lap bar? I ask this b/c on RnR the bars come down on your shoulders & i don't know if it's b/c i'm short or that i just can't take the bumps along the track BUT i get off the ride holding my ears b/c my head rattled back & forth between the bars. any descriptions of the coaster in this ride would be appreciated. thanks.
