Hi everyone!
I'm excited to be going to Universal in 3 weeks and was wondering about the new Mummy ride. How did you like it, is it extremely scary, fast, etc?
Thanks everyone
Happy Valentine's Day :lovestruc

I did not find it scary or fast (at least not fast as coasters go), but I high a pretty high coaster tolerance level from years of riding them. Your experience may vary. I didn't think much of it, but I am definitly in the minority. Most people love it. Give it a try. The ride is very short, so even if you don't like it, you wont have to suffer for long.

I agree with WDWHound, I was a bit disappointed. Its not scary, and not really a great rollercoaster. Its definitely worth riding, but I didn't think it was anything special.

Well, my wife and I are coaster fanatics (we have been on over 200 different coasters in five countries), and we both loved the Mummy. It is definitely not your traditional roller coaster; it can more accurately be described as a high-tech "dark ride" with coaster elements. "Dark rides" are any fun/haunted-type houses where you ride in a car instead of walk - a la Disney's or Knoebels' Haunted Mansions, or even Spiderman at IOA.

I admit I have a soft spot for this type of ride, and love even the real cheesy ones. They used to be a staple of every regional amusement park (I grew up on the "Flight to Mars", a real precurser to ROTM, at Boblo Island), and even carnival's had them. Today, there aren't many left, outside of the United Kingdom, anyway.

Having said that, we did not find the Mummy "scary" - more like "fun". But then, we've been on the tallest and fastest rides ever built, and don't find those scary either ...

i love this ride
it kills anything that the magic kingdom gives you
even though its not thart good of a coaster it is still a very good ride

it was really short, and the lines go fast...

not to spoil it for you... but the scarrab room is the best....

i gave it a stamp of approval by going on it another 28 times the night it opened....

ive been on it like 36 times i love this ride its so much fun

even though it doesn't go that fast there is a lot of fun in this ride

LOVE the Mummy. Disney's TOT and Universal's Mummy ride are my 2 faves in Orlando! :cheer2:

I also love coasters - no, the Mummy is not the fastest or most thrilling coaster that you will experience but it has fabulous theming and special effects! :wave2:

Loved the mummy! There was a big group of English folk in my car, and at the end, they were all saying, "Excellent!"

Hated it....but then again I am a whimp when it comes to roller coasters in the dark. Not that it was scary...just that I can feel ill easily on coasters in the broad day light.

Really liked spiderman!

how coould you hate it
for some reason when people say they hate it i feel like they hate me
its not bad is it.....i thought it was cool with all the effects and stuff......oh well i thought it was good

We were at Universal last week and I rode the Mummy twice. LOVED it!! (BTW - I'm 53 years old). We thought it was big fun!

Hey...

I'd have to say that ROTM is my absolute favorite ride in Universal - for BOTH parks!

Okay, as coasters go - it's not the best coaster ride. But it's lots of fun. The first time you ride it is great as you don't know what to expect. Not scary after that really - but still a lot of fun and some great effects.

I'd have a hard time choosing between the Mummy and Tower of Terror though....

Smiles,

Holly

okay, I'm a whimp when it comes to roller coasters, but I do like Space Mountain. How does ROTM compare? Thanks, Tracey

rotm goes about 10-15 mph faster than space mountain and it does jerk u around a little more
also there is a drop after this launch in the ride which some people dont like

i think this ride is reallly fun but to tell u the truth i thought they would make it a little MORE intense......i wouldn't worry about going on it once u go on u will really enjoy it:)

It was "intense". I love coasters. this wasn't a typical coaster, but it did have drops (made worse because it was dark and you didn't see it coming). Special effects were good (and in my opnion too scary for sensitive kids. My 8 year old would have peed her pants).
