Hey guys,

I'm looking for the detailed honest description of the Mummy - I know this is the place to get it! I talk to some people who say many different things but not enough for me - I want to take my daughter who is tall enough but may not be ready for this intense ride - I thought I would test it first (I'm not crazy for loops - so I'd like to know what to expect) Thanks so much!

Sue

There are no loops, but a heck of a launch, and a couple of quick, intense drops. I wasn't ready for how intense it actually was the first time I rode it. Now I can ride it with no problem but that is after riding it over 10 times. I have been debating whether to take my 7 year old son that is tall enough on it, but I think that it will be way too intense for him. I will wait until he is older. I would suggest that you ride it first and decide if she can go on it.

Thanks so much for the info - Is there another ride you can compare it to?

Sue

The closest comparison, coaster-wise, would be Space Mountain, with Mummy being at least 2x more intense.

Also "you will not flip upside down, but you will be flipping out." pirate: :jester:

It is an awesome ride, very intense. My 6 year old chickened out when were in line the first time so we did the child swap. I rode it and told them it was pretty intense and pretty scary, but he could handle it. He chickened out again and DH rode alone. The next day we had his 6 yo friend with us and they both wanted to ride. They were scared. His friend did not like it, but my son said he loved it. He still did not want to ride it again after that, though. He never really likes to do them twice so one of us is always alone on the ride while the other is with the younger one. He feels so cool that he rode it and is telling everybody about it. Says he can't wait to go back and do it again. I don't know if this helps you any! It is such a great ride, it is amazing the amount of thought put into it.

It is a great ride, we all loved it, but I didn't find it intense at all. I hate being launched and this launch didn't bother me at all, it is nothing compared to the launch on the Hulk, IMO. It's comparable to Space Mountain, but smoother. My friend compared it to Rock-N-Roller coaster without the loops, but I haven't ridden that so I can't compare. Has your daughter ridden any large coasters? If so, and she liked it I think she will do fine on the Mummy.

Yeah, the launch is supposed to be almost as fast, but it really seems like they control the speed you go up, not just as fast as possible, but top it out or something, hard to explain

Here is a link to a post I put on the UK forum. I'm not keen on Space Mountain, but I loved the Mummy. For me, it's most like R'n'R (without the inversions).

My DS7 rode it Tuesday night. He likes pretty much everything, but can get a bit apprehensive on a few things. He loved Mummy. Doesn't know if he wants to ride it again, but did love it while he was riding it.

Now, my DD16, who has Ds and is super sensitive to over-stimulation, mostly noise stimulation, did not like it at all. The coaster part was fine - she loved that (but then, she loves Fire and Ice), but all the sensory stuff was a bit overwhelming for her. She got off the ride and said that she almost wet, well never mind, on the part where it stops and the water hits you. She has emphatically stated that she will NOT ride it again!

I, on the otherhand, who has a mortal fear of coasters, thought it was great!

As a BBW with much of my weight in my behind ... I was wondering if the Mummy seats were like a bench ala BTM or sectional ala Test Track?

I already know I probably will not be able to ride Hulk or DD so I'd really like to get to do Mummy at least.

Thanks

WDWO

They are individual seats with individual restraints. There is a test seat out front of Mummy, just like Doom, Dragons, Hulk, and MIB.

I don't mind loops but I hate deep plunges. How steep do you plunge? The only part I hate about RNRC is the take off. Is this take off as intense at RNRC? I hate that tickly feeling in my tummy. How bad will it be on the Mummy?

The launch is uphill then a quick drop. It is not a bad drop, but you do come off the seat for it. It really is worth doing. I almost chickened out, but now I can ride it over and over again. I do it now with my hands up!

By intense, I meant for younger kids. Not because of the roller coaster part, but it was a little scary for my 6 year old. He liked it, but wasn't doing it again until our next trip. I did not find the coaster part intense at all. The other poster is right, it is kind of like Space Mountain, but smoother.
