I'm sorry she's in a funk still..........as someone else mentioned, could some of the meds she might be on be causing or aiding some depression?

A wound infection can occur after such a big operation, especially with the hit her immune system took with the surgery and the stay in ICU. Also healing is directly related to nutritional status, and it will take a long time to get back to normal in that regard. Explain to her how this can happen, and that she just has to be patient with her body. In the meantime, I will keep her and you in my thoughts and prayers. Keep us updated!
