Hello! My parents and I are going next December for two weeks to WDW. I've only ever had to do one room up to this point since my parents have never stayed on site. How do we go about getting the two room reservations linked up? Do one of my parents need to have their own My Disney Experience account? I am the one that is setting up and planning everything and just want to figure out the easiest way to have both room reservations linked so the planning goes smoothly. Thanks in advance!

Here's what I did when we needed a second room for our oldest son and his girlfriend -

I made both reservations on MDE but since there were only two adults staying in the second room the system only allowed me to list myself and my son. So I called and had them take my name off as a guest in the second room and had them add our son's girlfriend as the second guest so they would both be able to use their Magic Bands to get in the room and both be listed as staying on site for FPs. Because we were paying for their room, it continued to show up under my account as our room reservation even though I was no longer listed as a guest. I was also able to keep our credit card listed on their room for charging privileges. They knew exactly what needed to be done when I called so it must be very common (although it was the IT department who had to make the changes).

If your parents are paying for their own room then they can make the reservation and you can just add them as Friend/Family on your MDE account so you can make FPs and ADRs for the whole group.

We travel with two rooms mostly as we are a family of 6 and usually have people traveling with us. I make all the room reservations and until our kids were old enough - I put me on one room with some of the kids and my DH on the other room with the rest of the kids. You can definitely book them both without your parents having an MDE account. To link the rooms - I call or email to have the rooms linked. I always requested for the rooms to be connected and I will say so far all have been connected except for one trip. So not bad at all.

Each reservation needs to have "traveling with" and the opposite reservation number on it. That way the room assigner can try to get you close if you want to be close.

I have an upcoming stay with two rooms. I would really recommend pricing your room or package on the website (so you know costs) and then calling in the reservations. While you are on the phone, the CM can link the reservations as "travel with" and you can also note any requests right then and there (connecting room, etc.). You can both reservations online, but you will have to call in to link them and add requests, so I find it's just easier to call.

You don't need to MDE accounts for this. Simply link both reservations to your MDE account. When you link your parents' reservation, the system will prompt you to add them as people you manage in your profile. You can then do everything - manage the reservations, FP+, etc. - from that account and won't have to go back and forth between accounts to get things done.

I booked two rooms under one reservation number by calling reservations. My MDE account shows that I have two rooms and one reservation number. According to the CM all five people are listed as being on the reservation but they aren't assigned to a particular room. When we called to add requests we were told that the rooms are adjoining. My name is on the reservation for both rooms. It will be interesting to see which room the Magical Express puts the luggage, our room or our son's room. :) All the MBs came in one box, too.
