multiple National desks at MCO

On airside B (the south side) of MCO, there are two rental desks for National, yes? One near the United end and one near the Delta end? (There are presumably one or two on the north side as well, but that's for another thread . . . . )

If I remember, for one desk you just walk across the street to the cars, and for the other you go down through a tunnel. How'm I doing so far? (I've flown in on both airlines, but always arriving very early in the morning and I'm asleep on my feet.)

Does this mean that there are actually two different car pickup areas, maybe even two separate EA selections?

So much of MCO looks the same wherever you are, so it's easy to forget how big the place is until you park your car in the wrong place!

I've always used B terminal at MCO and have only seen one National desk. We always fly USAir, take the elevator down one level from baggage claim and then down the hall and out the doors to cross the street. We always return the car there too. We did take the elevator from the garage one time after we returned the car, we went down one level and then through a tunnel and up into the terminal. It's much easier to just cross the street and take the escalators by the National desk up to the deparature level.

Only one counter for A and one for B. The tunnel will take you to the same garage area as walking across the street.

OK, thanks, gang.

Does Dollar have more than one counter on the B side? I just have this memory of coming in very early in the morning and finding a sign at one of the desks saying "this one's closed, go to the other one".

Who says the legs are the first thing to go? At my age, my brain ain't what it used to be.

We're coming into MCO on Continental on a Saturday in October. I don't remember what side we would be on. We have EA reservations through EC. Any help as to getting to the EA from Continental gates?

Thanks.

Here's the ultimate resource for information about MCO - airlines, rental cars, flight schedules, it's all here:

http://fcn.state.fl.us/goaa/ops/term.htm

In particular - Continental is on the A side of the airport, where I've never been, but this site will give you the lay of the land.

Since there's a complete set of desks on the B side (and I still think at least one company has two desks!), I have to figure it's the same on the other side - they wouldn't make you trek all the way to the other side just because you picked the "wrong" airline.

I would also think they would have an EA with each desk, but I haven't used National at MCO before. As for "just because you picked the "wrong" airline" - CO had the best non-stop rate from Houston, unless you count cattle-car, er I mean Southwest Airlines. ;)

Oh, it was nothing against Continental - just meant that it didn't seem likely they'd make half the passengers flying into MCO trek over from one side of the airport to the other just because their airline happens to come into Terminal A instead of Terminal B.

All I know about Continental is that at LAX, their terminal (6) is right in between my two regulars - Delta (5) and United (7)

I'm not sure how long ago you were thinking that there were two desks but when they still had the rental cars on the ground floor level of the terminal building before they built the garage across the street where the cars are now, there used to be a staffed (usually but not always) return desk just inside the glass doors by the elevators on the lower level. It was before the days of the hand held scanner to check you in. Maybe that's what you remember.
