Multiple ADR question...

First, I have no intention of breaking any rules so no flames, please.

Can I book an ADR in my name (linked to my reservation number) at one restaurant and my SiL book a different ADR (NOT linked to the reservation) at a different restaurant? (Again, NOT looking to break any rules....)

We are doing the DxDDP for the first two nights of our vacation so it is imperative that we make our ADR's. Here's the issue....WHERE we eat will depend on WHERE we stay. As of now, we are booked at AKV so I'd like to make ADR's for Boma and Sanaa. BUT....we are waitlisted for BLT and it is a 7-day waitlist. That means that we won't know FOR SURE where we will be until 7 days out. *IF* we end up at BLT, we don't want to go all the way over to AKV so we'd want an ADR in the MK resort area....but ONLY if we get the waitlist.

When our 180-day window opens up, could I book at Sanaa and Boma and have my SiL book at the other two choices? I would ABSOLUTELY cancel one of them AS SOON as I find out the results of the waitlist. I do fully plan on cancelling at least 7 days in advance, but I can't wait until 7 days out to MAKE the reservations.

Is this even possible or am I just going to have to "wing it"?

There is no problem for 2 different people to book 2 different reservations.

We've done this before. I booked a dinner at Chef Mickey's for ourselves and grandson, while the grandson's dad and his wife booked another dinner, same night under his name, at Chefs de France.

No Flames, but let me explain my thought.
What you want to do is doable and you will not be caught - 2 different people, 2 different reservations, that is allowed.
But what you are doing is very selfish, IMO. You are preventing another group from getting sought after reservations at 180 days, 150 days, 30 days etc. You will not cancel until about 7 days out, and most people have set their plans by then, out of necessity.
I hope you rethink your plan

You don't need 2 people to do it you can make both reservations yourself. It will tell you there are overlapping reservations but it will still let you book both

It also makes absolutely no difference whether you link it to the reservation or not, unless you want to book at 180 + 10.

There will be a lot of commentary on the ethics of holding two reservations for the same party at the same time (especially since you state you may be holding two sets of concurrent reservations until a week before your departure). However, Disney allows it.
