I need help from you experienced Disneyphiles. We're going on a week-long trip in late April with my parents (both active) and my two kids, who will be 4 and 7. We already have a reservation at the Boardwalk Villas for a 2-bedroom. I was concerned that there might be a little TOO much action there--we're not into nightlife. I know some of the rooms are quieter than others. I thought maybe we should change to the WLV and be on the safe side. But we really enjoy having a lot of dining options, especially since the kids are picky. Should we stay where we are? We want to see everything, not just the MK, and be able to easily get back to our room in the afternoons for rest and relaxation.

Hello & Welcome!

I haven't stayed at the Boardwalk, but we just returned from WL.
The villa's are right next door.

We really liked WL. It's very beautiful, relaxing and close to MK. As for dining options, there is a small boat that does nothing but circle between WL/CR/FW. So "expand" your dining options to include Chef Mickeys, Concource Steakhouse, & CA Grill at CR, and don't forget about Trails End at FW. Also, there is a bus that goes directly to TTC. So, you can "add on" the Poly as well as the Poly is next door to TTC. For just a tad more "work" you could take the boat to CR, then monorail to GF to dine there.

We really enjoyed WL. It's a wonderful resort.

What about BCV? We are staying in a two bedroom there next summer - it will be my parents, my brother and sister, DH and me. It's right across from the Boardwalk so you have all those dining options not to mention all the yummy places at the BC and YC. We have stayed there before and found it very quiet and relaxing. Plus the kids will love SAB!:D :D :D

How important is swimming and pool slides to your kids? I like the pool over at VWL better for new swimmers/sliders. BCV's Stormalong Bay and BWV's Scary Clown pool is better for older children. The slides are much, much bigger and SAB is very spread out.

The other advantage to VWL is the Roaring Forks "snack shop" where you can pick up kid friendly food. IMO, the one thing that is severely lacking at the Epcot resorts (BW, Y&BC) is a quick snack shop like the ones found at WL, the Polynesian, the Contemporary and AKL.

Transportation from VWL to the MK is by boat and by bus for everything else. Getting to AK is a huge pain. It took us over an hour! Getting to MGM and Epcot is not as bad, but we still took the monorail back once or twice and caught the bus back to the WL from the TTC.

Transportation from BWV and BCV to AK and MK is also a pain since you often share a bus with all 4 Epoct resorts. Walking or boating to Epcot and MGM is quite easy and relaxing.

Good luck with your decision! I like both resorts and "nightlife" is not that important to us either.

I had thought the BWV might be noisy until our stay in October. We had a preferred studio right over the Brew Works. I had a terrific view of Spacestation Earth over the lagoon. And when the balcony doors were closed, I couldn't hear anything from the Boardwalk. I really was impressed with the villas. We visited Luna Park, but the slide was down for rehab.

The pull for WL for me would be the boatride access to MK. Your children are younger and I imagine you'll be drawn to the MK more than my teens who love MGM and Epcot.

Good luck--at least it's choosing between lovely alternatives.

I am a DVC ower at VWL, but also love BWV and have stayed there several times, I have enjoyed my stays, loved being so close to EPCOT and MGM (not much of a night person myself,) BWV does have many dinning options. With your childrens ages I believe VWL would be better because it's so close to MK and your parents will love the Lodge with it's Northwest decor.....As Kimberle said CR, GF, Poly, and Ft. Wilderness also provide great dinning and are very accessible to WL...if you tire of WCC , Artist Point and Roaring Fork Snacks. Both Resorts are wonderful and you will enjoy which ever you decide on.
