Does anyone know if this works? We usually buy a four or five day pass and do one park a day. Thinking about doing two parks in one day on our next trip and it looks a lot cheaper to buy an extra day ticket (one for each park in the day) instead of a park hopper pass. Can this be done and am I making sense.

You cannot do that. If you want to park hop, you'll need to buy park hoppers.

The system will recognize that you've already used the ticket at another park on that day and will deny your access to a second park on the same day. ASFAIK, he only way to do it would be to use two totally separate tickets (like if you had a day or two left on an old non-expiration pass) but that probably wouldn't be a good value for you either.
