Multi reservation / waitlist vs one contiguous booking

so a subtle question on our first dvc booking....yay us.

We are hoping to book a 6 night stay sometime soon in our 7 month window. We don’t mind split stays but if we can get one resort ...would be preferred.

My question is if we are missing one night in the middle of our intended requested dates we have a couple choices. Waitlist the entire block to ensure one room, or book 2 nights, waitlist missing night, book 3 nights. ...if that makes sense.

My guess is the multi booking does not put us in the same room...unless we call MS...??

But we are also looking for advice as to what the likelihood of that missing night comes in (midweek night) based on folks prior experiences.

Again we don’t mind a split stay, but would prefer only one room move.

Anyway. Looking for advice on booking the whole block via waitlist, or physically booking 2 stays with waitlist on missing night. Does Disney actually save us the 5 nights if we book with the whole in the middle ????

Thanks

Your odds of getting your midweek night vary a lot, by resort, room type, what events are going on at WDW at the time and so forth. A general answer would be the odds of a single night coming available is higher than a 6 night stay during a busy travel time. If you have a night that isn't available when you go to book the reservation (as it sounds like you haven't booked it yet) I'd call MS and try to book it as a cash night, then waitlist that night for points. That way you'd at least have a room.

You just have to be careful with cash nights. Sometimes a view on points isn't available for cash stays. And sometimes what Disney Reservation Center calls a specific booking category isn't the same for DVC booking categories. But if you book through DVC, you will probably get the same booking category, just not the discounted rate that DRC might be selling it for.

Last April we booked our trip after the 7-month mark for the week after Easter and initial had seven different reservations. With stalking and waitlisting just a 1-2 days at a time, I was able to get us staying at AKV Kidani all but one Tuesday night in the middle of our trip. Member service was sure that last night would become available, but it never did. It wasn't a big deal. We planned for it; only taking our overnight bag and leaving the rest of our bags and groceries with Kidani's bell service.
