We knew DS5 would get tired and want to ride, so we decided to rent a stroller. It took forever to get one in MK on EE morning. I overheard someone doing a 3 day rental. Silly me didn't ask CM and got a one day. That night I asked about it and although not all CM's seem to know how it works, you can buy up to a 5 day rental at one time. Then the next day you don't have to wait in line for your rental. You can show the CM by the strollers your receipt, get your name card and away you go. Saves time, especially at MK.

Also, I believe, if you do a 5 day rental, you get a free day rental. But no Disney Dollars.

Occassionally DD8 got tired and wanted to ride too. It's not that we were too cheap to rent a double, we just didn't think it would be used much. But for those times, DD got in first and DS sat between her legs. It was still easy to manuever. The only thing was the one in MGM wasn't as good as the other ones.

If you do a five day rental is it good for all parks? Or do you have to do a seperate rental for each park? I need to rent 2 double strollers. So this sounds like it would save me a lot of time.

Check out A Baby's Best Friend www.abbf.com They have double strollers that we found to be much more comfortable, and actually less expensive, than any the parks had to offer. They deliver right to your resort so it is waiting for you when you arrive. We use them every time we go.

Hope this helps.

Yes, Sandybottom, the stroller rental is good at any of the parks that have strollers. We paid for ours at MK and had no waiting at the other parks to get one. But if I could have done it, I would have gotten the rental before we went to MK. It seemed the wait/line there was the worst.

Our DD weighs over 80 lbs and we had no problem pushing her in the WDW strollers (except MGM - theirs weren't that good).
I'm not knocking the off-site rental company that was recommended. We didn't want the hassle of transporting a stroller to and from. And I don't know if theirs would have held DD. Our kids are 8 & 5 so comfort wasn't an issue as much as just helping them get from one place to the other, especially DS5. If they were younger and needed to nap in the stoller, that is different.

Thanks for the information, our first day will be at MK for Chief Mickeys.....maybe the lines won't be to long in Sept. I think it would be better for us if we use the on-site rental, with 4 DGC I think it would be to much trouble for us to get the strollers on and off the busses

Wow--the multi-day info is great news!

Does anyone know how much a five day double stroller one would be? We're going to need one for eight days! Hey, maybe they'll have an eight-day rate :)

Just sold our double one last month--five year old is WAY too lanky for it now, but from what I've read the WDW ones will do nicely!

Sandybottom,

Just wanted to make sure. Did you mean Chef Mickeys? Because that is at the Contemporary Resort, not MK. Forgive me if I misread your post, I'd just hate to have someone be at the wrong place at the start of their trip!

Hope you have a great time with all your GC!

Hello All

This my first time posting to this board. I have found everything very helpful. My DF will be going to WDW on 9/24/ - 10/4 and I was also wondering what the price is for a mult-day stroller rental. I would need it for 5 days. Not sure if it will be a single or a double. I have a DS( will be celebrating his 4th birhtday) and DD (2).

Thanks

NYYank--Welcome to the DIS board!!!

With a just turned 4 yo and a 2 yo, I would think bringing your own stroller or renting one from the off site company would work best. At the very least you will want a regular single stroller or an umbrella stroller for the 2 yo.

The strollers you rent at the parks can't be taken out of the park, and that's usually when the kids want to be in them the most!!! There can be a long walk to the parking lot or Disney transporation. Plus many of the resorts are very spread out and there's lots of walking to do. When you're at Epcot, you may want to walk on over to the Boardwalk or check out the neighboring resorts. We brought our own double stroller with a 3 yo and 1 yo.

I am also curious as to the cost of a double stroller for 5 days? Anyone out there tried this yet?

I got this info from another thread--

there is NO discount--a five day rental costs what five days would normally cost

you get a ticket (which you HAVE to keep so make sure you don't lose it during the days) and you show them the ticket when you need the rental (does NOT have to be consecutive days)

you don't have to wait in line for the strollers if you have a ticket

recently they've been giving people a free coupon for a one day rental of Pal Mickey with the five day stroller rental

For myself, I'm pretty bummed about the entire thing--I'll be forking over $120 for 8 day double stroller rental, but regular strollers won't fit my children's size and Disney's supposed to be great for room.

We just got back. Some of the information above is not entirely true.

We rented a double for 5 days. Normally we would have paid $15/day or $75. We paid $68 and got $5 back over the week ($1 deposit back each day), so our total cost was $63. According to the receipt we gpt a 10% discount for doing a multi-day rental. Not sure the minimum number of days before the discount kicks in.

You do have to keep your ticket; the park punches it each day you use it. You can hop from park to park in the same day and pick up another stroller at no additional cost. Also, you do not have to use it consecutive days.

You do not have to wait in the rental line if you have a multi-day rental. You only have to go to the pick up area. We had no problem with this EXCEPT Animal Kingdom. They did not seem to be well organized for folks picking up without going through the rental line first, but it worked out.

We did not get a gift certificate for a free days rental for Pal Mickey, but we may have missed that particular promotion.

Overall, I highly recommend the multi-day rental, but try to purchase it at a park other than MK (we went to MGM the first day, so that is where we purchased ours). MK at opening is a zoo, and it was very nice to by-pass rental, and go straight to stroller express!

Jessica--
thanks for the update :)

I'd MUCH rather have a 10% discount than a pal mickey coupon anyways. That's a great tip too about getting it at a different park first.

Do you think if we got to the parks 1/2 hour after the mad rush opening it might help a little? Trying to fine tune our first trip ever

You're quite welcome. Glad I could help. As to your other question, if you are planning to go to MK the first day and that day is a Mon or Tues (EMH) or Sat, the half hour later thing might work. We went to MK on Wed and Fri, and had no problems (especially Fri). Another tidbit I just remembered...there will be CMs outside the park offering stroller rentals. Basically you pay them outside the gate, then go to the pick up area inside the park. However, those CMs cannot sell the multi-day rental. Those much be purchased inside the park.

So they ARE still doing the length of stay rentals now? Or will this end soon?
Can you purchase it at your resort? (like upon check in?)

Ah, I see. Our first day is going to be on a Tuesday, and we just have to go to the MK first! We'll be checking in at FW Cabins first thing in the morning, so knowing that the initial park opening's hectic I won't be rushing now to join the masses :) Glad to hear that Friday was a good day too; we've got that one planned for MK as well!

Thanks again.
