Multi contracts and UY

Let me preface this inquiry with stating why I put this on Mousecellaneous instead of the buying DVC board:
I'm looking for responses from owners that already have contracts (perhaps multiple) and my thinking was that they might not be looking at the threads on Buying DVC cuz they are already maxed out.
Anyway I have 2 BCV contracts and I'm looking to add another 100-150 pts to the lot. There isn't much out there with my UY Apr and I was in the mind set that I wanted Apr again. But then I got to thinking I want to get these points at a good price so I'm looking at SSR. Made two different offers but the owners were both firm at 65 & 69 pts. One even had borrowed pts from 2012. So no go there. Then I'm thinking of going with a different UY, maybe Dec since kids are in HS now and are getting older so DH & I will be able to take more trips just us and would go on off peak times - maybe just golfing and not so much the parks. So I want to hear from people who have multi contracts and if they are different UY how that has worked out. Thanks!

We have 2 UY's, multiple resorts and multiple contracts. I actually enjoy the advantage of having 2 UY's in that I can choose which one works best for cancellation policies depending on when we are going. It's also possible to transfer between the two should you wish although I've only done that once.

Things work out especially well for us b/c if we do need to use from different UY's at different resorts we don't mind doing a split stay. We don't go out of our way for them, but they can give you a feeling of 2 different vacations.

Our April UY was bought mostly for VGC where I usually want to go in June for my BD but I have added another resort to that UY when I found a contract at a very good price. So we also use it anytime we need it and have frequently linked reservations from it to reservations from our Oct UY rather than transfer the points. It takes a little more tracking and while I do see the benefits of keeping one UY having two works for us. I wouldn't recommend having a 2nd UY for a very small contract (25pts) unless you had a very specific use for that but if you have a good amount of points in both (which I would consider 150 to be) than I think it can work well.

We have 2 UYs, 5 resorts, and 26 contracts. I would prefer to have only one UY.

2 UYs you have double the work, twice as much to keep track of and you need to spend more time booking a reservation. You will have 2 membership numbers and separate accounts but the contracts and points will be under 1 member website log in.

We just bought BWV points last summer to add to our BLT points and they are a different UY.

I would have liked to get the same UY, but there weren't any when I was looking--and I was too impatient to wait:lmao:--so I decided to just get more points so that having two memberships would work.

Since we have 150 BWV and 180 BLT, we can book things the way we want with each without really having it become an issue. We bought the new resort so we could stay at least 2 nights in the summer in a split stay with our BLT nights.

So, if you are going to go with a different UY, just be sure the # of points you buy does what you want it to do. With the 150 we now own, we can book those summer nights, and a weekend in either October or December without needing any of the BLT points to accomplish it.

So far, it hasn't proved to be a problem.

We have multiple contracts with the same use year. When we wanted to add on at HHI recently, it took us 8 months to find the right contract with our same UY. Several times I was frustrated and tempted to look at other UYs, figuring "How bad can it be?" But whenever I asked, I got a resounding "Don't do it!", that keeping multiple UYs straight was a headache. So I'm really glad we waited (although I wondered at the time!)

We now have 3 UYs and 4 resorts (it used to be 4 UYs and 5 resorts).
I find it much easier to keep track of the points that are in different UYs although with the online booking that issue is mitigated a little bit.

I think it makes a difference as to how you intend on using your points. We bought the points with visits during different seasons and staying at the home resort in mind and 11 month booking. The banking and borrowing options have made the program flexible enough that I don't feel having different UYs has been a bad decision. (We've been members since 2002)

The BCV contract that we sold had a different UY and it has been very easy to keep those points isolated while still using the rest of our points in our other contracts.
